A Warm Hello

Punches used to create these daisies

Today I have created a card using a new JustRite stamp set "A Warm Hello".  There are nine sentiments and nine frames in this set. The sentiment was die cut using the smallest Spellbinders "Labels Two" die. I built this card around using the new Cheery Lynn "Lattice" die from Joan's Gardens.  I love cards that have a lattice on them and this die is so perfect for creating all types of cards.  I decided to create an overlay for the lattice and die cut an opening with the largest Spellbinder "Labels Two" die.  This piece was then embossed with the Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" embossing folder.  The lattice was glued to the back of the die cut window.  For the background, I used a piece of designer paper from another one of the new paper pads I just received from Joan's Gardens called "Botanical".  You can see all the new paper pads on Joan's blog.  The lattice was placed at the top of the card then a strip of aqua card stock embossed with an old Cuttlebug embossing border was placed at the bottom of it.

Five daisy flowers were created.  Each flower has three layers of the punched "Large Daisy" and four layers of the "Medium Sun" for the stamen.   These pieces were all shaped using the Flower Tool Kit.  The leaves are from the Sizzix "Branch w/Leaves #2" die.  They were also shaped before adding them to the card.  The corners are from the new Spellbinder "Floral Doily Accent" die cut set.  A rhinestone was added to the center of each die cut corner.  A pretty silk bow was added to complete this card.

You can purchase all the products used to create this card from Joan's Gardens.

Life is like a Butterfly

Punches used for flowers

Today I have a card created with a new flower punch from Joan's Gardens.  It is called the Super Giant Lilacs/Daphne.  I am very excited to get this punch because so many times I want to create small flowers for my cards.  I will be creating some different flowers with other pieces from this punch.

The design paper used is  called "Sparkling Spring" 6"x6" paper stack.  Joan has a lot of new paper pads with such beautiful paper.  Be sure and check them all out on her blog.  On the top of this sheet there is a little verse; part of it reads . . . The butterfly flutters about as if to say "Look at me, am I not beautiful with my new wings?"   I thought this was perfect to go with this stamp from JustRite.  It is from the "Butterfly Gardens" stamp set.  Rhinestones were placed around the border of the sentiment and the center chalked with yellow.  The doily behind the sentiment is another of the new Cherry Lynn doily dies from Joan's Gardens.  It is called "Canadian Kaleidoscope".  You now can order eight different beautiful doily dies from Joan.

The design paper I used has small pink flowers in each corner and I wanted to make some of them dimensional.  There are three different sizes of the small flower on the mega punch so I created all three sizes to embellishment my card.  The flowers are a pale pink and the stamens are two punched suns out of a darker pink.  The butterflies were punched using the Martha Stewart "3-in-1 Butterfly" punch.  Rhinestones and Stickles were added to the body of each one.  The border around the card was created using the Martha Stewart "Swirling Lace" punch

All the products used to create this card can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.  If you don't see something you are interested in, just email or call Joan and she will be happy to help you. She has been working on her new blog appearance to make it easier to find the products you are interested in but she is currently still updating all the info.   Contact information for Joan is on her blog.

This card has been entered on the Embellish Blog for "Square Cards Color Trends Challenge".   Here are the colors to be used:

Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge #16

We are back from our trip to Colorado.  My husband's brother passed away and we left on short notice to go back to Colorado to be with family and friends and to attend the funeral.  It is always a very sad time when someone passes away, but we were able to see lots of people we have not seen in years.

When I got home, I had a package from Joan's Gardens with lots of new "toys".  I have used some of these on my card for this week's challenge.  The lattice was cut using the new Cheery Lynn "Lattice #2" (4.25 x 5.5") die.  I can really see lots of things I will be able to create with this die.  Joan has in stock a lot of new Spellbinders dies.  I used the new "Rose Creations" dies to create the pink flowers.  The leaves are from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities "Foliage" die set.  There are six different leaves in this set and all are going to be very useful when creating cards with flowers.

The sentiment and frame are from one of the new JustRite stamp sets "Be Happy Borders and Centers".  It was stamped with VersaFine black ink and clear embossed.  Scissors were used to cut around the frame.  It was attached with dimensional tape.  The pretty corners were die cut from the Spellbinders "Parisian Accents" set.  A pretty trim was added along the left side of the card then black Dew Drops were added along with my double, lime green, Martha Stewart butterfly.

I hope you will join us in this week's challenge.  Here is what you need to do for Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge #16:

■Colors Lime Green and Pink
■Lattice (either die cut or create with paper strips)
■Leaves to create a vine on lattice
■Butterflies

I'll be looking for your challenge card at Joan's Gardens.  You can read all about the challenge on Joan's blog.

All products used on my card can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

I seldom post personal pictures but thought I would post this picture of one of the places my sister took look us for lunch.  This was not the restaurant we had planned to go to and wondered if we could go in when we weren't dressed us -- but no customers was dressed up so it was ok.  It is called the Cliff House in Manitou Springs, CO and is a four-star restaurant.  What delicious food we had.  In the picture:  My husband, myself, my sister and her husband.

Cardinal Posy Wreath

Today I have a new card designed with the new Spring Cardinal Collection from Heartfelt Creations.  This is the HCPC 3384 "Cardinal Posy Wreath PreCut Set".  The wreath was stamped on white card stock and cut out.  The sentiment is from the HCPC 3383 Cardinal Posy Branch Precut set"; it was stamped in the enter of the wreath.   The wreath was attached to a piece of dark pink card stock and embossed with the Cuttlebug Argyle embossing folder.  A white panel was created with the Martha Stewart "Double Loop" border punches and was layered over another piece of pink card stock.  Using one of the stamps from the HCPC 3388 "Spring Cardinals PreCut set" two flower corners were cut away from the Cardinal and placed on the corners.  Two single posie flowers were stamped and placed next to these pieces.  Two cardinals were die cut, colored and placed over the birds on the wreath.  A bow, Stickles and pearls were added to complete the card.

All products used on this card can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

Have A Lovely Day

Today I have used two new JustRite stamps sets that I just received. This is a 5 1/2" square card.  The design paper is from a Martha Stewart paper pad.  The birdhouse from the JustRite "Bird Houses Set" was stamped and colored with Copic Markers.  It was cut out with the large scallop circle Nestability.  One size larger mat was also cut to frame it.  A marker was used to created dots around the inside scallops.

The Sentiment is from a newly released JustRite stamp set called "Be Happy Borders and Centers".  It was stamped with black VersaFine Ink and clear embossed then cut out.  The edges were sponged then it was attached to one of the Spellbinder "Parisian Accents" pieces.

Flowers were created using the small "Blossom" punch and the medium "Sun" for the stamens.  I was trying to duplicate the flowers on the birdhouse.  Sizzix leaves were die cut and arranged around the design, then the flowers attached.  The bird is something I have had in my "stash" and thought it goes perfect with this design.  It was tucked in with the flowers.  Spellbinder "Parisian Corners" were added to each corner and small Martha Stewart butterflies

The products used on this card can be purchased from Joan's Gardens..

Spring Cardinals Shadow Box

This is a 6" square shadow box. As you know, I love to create shadow box cards and these two cardinals seemed perfect for this type of card.  Green design paper was attached to both the top and inside of the box.  Spellbinder "Beaded Ovals" die was used to create the opening in the top.  A green marker was used to outline each of the scallops to give it a finished appearance.  The same Beaded Oval was used for the inside of the card.  The Heartfelt Creations "Rustic Bridge (684E)" was stamped on the Oval and colored with Copic Markers.  Pink Flower Soft was added to the trees.  (I added the pink Flower Soft to create the feeling that those are the flowering trees the birds are really sitting in.)
Both cardinals from the "HCPC 3388 Spring Cardinals PreCut Set" were stamped, colored with Copic Markers and cut out with scissors.  Additional cardinals and posy flowers were stamped, colored, and cut out with matching dies, then attached with dimensional dots. Soft Yellow Flower Soft was added to the center of each flower.  Spellbinders corners from the "Parisian Motifs" dies were added.  The side borders were created with the Martha Stewart "String Lace" punch

All products used on this card, including all the new Heartfelt Creations stamp sets, can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

New Cardinal Collection

I am so excited about the new Heartfelt  Creations "Springtime Cardinal Collection" which features 8 new PreCut Sets.   These new sets coordinate with existing exclusive Heartfelt Creations dies, manufactured by Spellbinders, and existing cardinal and posy patch stamp sets.  You can see all the stamps in this new collection at Joan's Gardens including card samples I have designed for this collection.  Rather than post all the cards I have created at one time, I am going to post one new card each day along with the description, through this weekend.  I loved working with the Heartfelt Creations Christmas Cardinals and I am so happy to add the new "Springtime Cardinals" to my collection.

The card posted today was created using the HCPC 3388 "Spring Cardinal PreCut Set".  It coordinates with the HCD 706 "Cardinal Family Dies" and HCD 701 "Posy Patch Dies".

This is a 5 1/2" square white card.  An embossed panel was layered over a lavender panel.  The image was stamped and colored with Copic markers. The wreath was cut out and attached with dimensional dots.   Additional cardinals and posies were stamped, colored and cut out with matching dies. They were attached with small dimensional dots.   The sentiment from the same set was stamped and cut out with an oval Nestability and attached to the center of the wreath. A piece of lavender trim was added along the bottom of the card and a lavender silk bow added to the top.

Please will go over to Joan's Gardens to see the other beautiful cardinal stamp sets in this collection

Joan's Gardens Tag Challenge

Same tag -- two looks

It's time for another Tag Challenge.  How many tags do you have ready to give when it is time to give a gift?   I love doing these challenges so I have a great collection of tags ready when I need one.  I hope you will join us in the Tag Challenge at Joan's Gardens.

Today I wanted to show you how different the same tag can look with just one change.  The first tag above I used the Martha Stewart "Double Loop" punches to create a border.  It sure gives the tag a dresser look doesn't it.

This tag was created with two JustRite stamp sets:  "Backyard Birds" and "Just a Note".  The bird was stamped and cut out with a circle Nestie.  The border, from the same set, was stamped, colored with Copic markers, then cut out with scissors around the design.  These pieces were then layered over an aqua Spellbinders "Lacy Circles" die.

The border was punched and a piece of white card stock that was embossed placed in the center.  The sentiment from the JustRite "Just a Note" set was stamped and die cut with the new Spellbinders "Parisian Accents" tag.  It was sponged prior to taking it out of the die.  A piece of trim was attached to the bottom of the card with ScorTape and a bow added at the top to complete the card.

Punched Daisy Garden

I used the " Mini Sun" punch to create the center of the daisy.

Punches used for this card:  Medium Daisy; Oak Leaf; Mini Sun;
Martha Stewart Grass and Butterflies

Another fun time using my punches.  I love daisies so wanted to use the daisy punch today to create a Springtime card.  There are two layers for each daisy.  Each one was shaped using the tools from the "Flower Tool Kit".  The "Mini Sun" was used for the center of each flower.  Using the stylus, each one was cupped to give it the appearance of the center of a daisy.  Joan sent me a new glue that I have fallen in love with when working on my flowers.  It is called "Art Glitter" adhesive.   I attached the layers with this glue then filled the center with this glue and placed the shaped sun over it.  This center really helps to make the daisy look realistic.

The border at the top of the card was created with the Spellbinders "Floral Doily Accent" borderGreen Dew Drop embellishments were added.  For the bottom of the card, a Tim Holtz, Sizzix, "On the Fence" die was cut.  Two strips of grass created with the Martha Stewart "Grass" punch were used on the front and in the back of the fence.  The flowers were arranged around the fence and leaves tucked in.

The sentiment and pretty frame are from the JustRite "Elegant Frames" stamp set.  It was stamped with dark green ink on white card stock and cut out with scissors.  It was layered on dark green card stock and a small frame cut around it to help it show up better.  Martha Stewart small yellow butterflies were  added to complete the card.

All products used to create this card can be purchased at Joan's Gardens.

Tomorrow I will have a tag for the Tag Challenge at Joan's Gardens.  Don't forget to go over and vote for your favorite tag in the current challenge.

Wishing You Happiness

I was playing with petals from  the "Super Giant Begonia Petals" punch to see if I could come up with a different type of flower and this is what happened.  I like the way it turned out.  It is so fun to have the punches to be able to create so many different flowers with them.  The petals were punched using vanilla card stock and the edges sponged with brown ink.  They were shaped with the tools from the Flower Tool Kit on the black shaping mat.  The punches used for the stamen were both the large and medium "Sky Flake" punches.  They were punched using beige card stock and the circles on the tips of each flake were colored brown with a marker (front and back) then shaped with the shaping tools.  The card stock I used comes in packets from Joan's Gardens.

The Sizzix "Wreath" embossing folder was used.  This is a folder in the package with "Birds & Wreath" embossing folders.  The embossed oval frame with leaves was cut out with scissors so it could stand out from the design paper.  The sentiment is from another new JustRite stamp set "Elegant Frames".  I only wanted to use the sentiment,  but the frames in this set are gorgeous.  It was stamped using VersaFine Brown ink.  A few Sizzix branch w/leaves were die cut using vanilla card stock.  They blend in perfect with the embossed leaves on the oval.  The flower and leaves were arranged in the corner then a brown bow added.  To complete the card, two beautiful butterflies from the "Pinkpaislee Butterfly Garden Collection" were added along with a few pearls in the corners.

Have you tried making your own flowers with the supplies from Joan's Gardens
