My Final JUGS Guest Designer Post

It is time for another great JUGS (Just Us Girls) Challenge.  This is my last week as a guest designer and I want to thank the team for inviting me to work with them this month.  This week the challenge is to create a handmade, burnt edged, fabric flower.  The link  provided to learn how to do this here. 

The bottom portion of my card is a piece of Basic Grey design paper.  On the top portion I added a white piece of card stock that was embossed with the Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss embossing folder.  Across the middle is a border punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  Along the top edge I added a narrow strip of pink card stock.  

I have never heard of a handmade, burnt edged, fabric flower.    I found it very easy to create this flower; it doesn't look exactly like the one on the tutorial but I think it does look like a flower.  You start out with cutting a circle out of synthetic silky fabric and make a few slits around it.  You then use a tea light candle and melt the edges and it is fascinating to watch the cut edges curl and look like real petals.  Isn't it amazing how much this looks like a real rose when all the layers are put together!  I bought several colors of material and plan to make other roses.  I used a Cuttlebug die to cut out the leaves.  I conditioned the card stock to break down the fibers in it so I could shape it then used a stylus to draw in veins. 

This is a birthday card to celebrate Kristin Bueter's birthday.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTIN.  The greeting is from the JustRite "Birthday Sentiments" stamp set.  It was white embossed on pink card stock and cut out with a Nestie.  A dotted Swiss white bow and liquid white pearls were added to complete the card.

JUGS Template Challenge

It is time for another JUGS Challenge.  It has been a lot of fun being a guest designer this month.   This week we received a template from "My Time Made Easy". The name of this template is "In Suspense".   Isn't this a great idea -- a box that will hang on a door knob.  I printed out the template and cut it out using design paper from Martha Stewart.  The hole for the knob was cut out with a circle Nestability. 

For my decoration on the box I used a cardinal from the Heartfelt Creations  "Snowy Cardinal Precut set".  The cardinal image was stamped using black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. The image was cut out with scissors.   I stamped one of the single cardinals from the  Cardinal Family Precut set, colored it with Copics, then cut it out with the matching Cardinal Family diecuts.  It was attached with dimensional tape to give the design a 3-D effect.  This image was attached on the front of the box with dimensionals. 

The greeting on the lid is from the JustRite "Something Sweet" stamp set.  I cut around the outer edge with scissors and it is also attached with dimensional tape.  Three small red pearls were added to it.  A pretty silk bow was made and attached on the top.  I added some krinkle paper strips and filled the box with  Chocolates.

I think this will be a very cute "surprise" to leave on my neighbor's door.

JUGS Color Challenge

This is my third week as Guest Designer for JUGS.  This week the JUGS Saturday challenge is a color challenge:  black, cream and kraft.  I love these colors together.   The above picture is provided for inspiration.

My card base is cream.  The designer papers are from the DCWV "La Creme" mat stack.  These are layered onto a piece of kraft card stock.  The stamp used is from the JustRite "Christmas Treasures" set.  Both the greeting and the frame were stamped with VersaMark ink on kraft card stock and black embossed.  The design was cut out with a round Nestie and is layered over the frame using dimensional tape.  I used scissors to trim around the outside design of the frame.  A piece of gold trimmed ivory ribbon was placed across the seam then a bow added.  The stamped design is attached over the ribbon with dimensionals.  A black flourish and three black brads were added to complete the card.

Acetate Birthday Card

It's time for another JUGS Saturday Challenge.  The technique  chosen is to use acetate on your card. This means making a clear card or using it as an accent. 

Alicia Weiman's birthday was last Wednesday so I want to wish her a  HAPPY BELATED BIRTDAY.  I created a card in honor of her birthday.   It is entirely created on the front of the acetate card.  The first picture above shows it with a liner so you can see the design better, and the second picture shows it without the liner.

I used rub-ons for the flourish, small butterflies and flowers.  The large butterfly (Gina K Designs) was white embossed on vellum and colored on the back with a marker.  It was attached to the acetate, just on the body, so the wings are dimensional.  I created a small envelope out of vellum.  Additional rub-ons were added on it.  The Happy Birthday greeting (GKD) was stamped in black and cut out with a small square Nestability then inserted in the envelope. A few pearls and a bow were added to complete the top of the card.  I created an "inside" insert using white card stock.  Attached to the front is a piece of pink Basic Grey design paper.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to create a border along the bottom.

Just Us Girls 1st Anniversary Blog Hop!

I have some exciting news.  Last week, Pam Imholz emailed me and said I have been chosen to be the JUGS (Just Us Girls) Featured Designer for October.  I am so honored and excited to join in on their weekly challenges.    Also, it is a privilege to be a part of this 1st Anniversary Celebration Blog Hop.

This week there is a "Sketch" challenge, shown above.  The stamps used for my card are from the Heartfelt Creations Posy Patch Flowers Precut set  (Item #3303).  I love working with the Heartfelt Creations stamps because they have both the precut stamps and matching die cuts.  I stamped three different sizes of the posy patch flowers.  They were stamped using VersaMark and white embossed.  They were cut out using the matching Posy Patch dies (Item HCD 701).    The layers were attached with dimensionals.  The Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

The pretty little posy flowers matched some old SU designer paper I have.  I created the JUGS sketch, then in order to get my greeting across the three panels, I decided to stamp it onto a piece of acetate using Stazon Ink. This greeting is from Heartfelt Creations.   It was attached above the three panels with  Glue Glider  Extreme Adhesive Squares under the two flowers.  A pretty piece of lace was added to the top with Glue Glider Spooled Ribbon Adhesive and then three additional posies added.  You will find a fantastic sale on Glue Glider guns and adhesives at Joan's Garden.

A card for the JUGS Sketch challenge

JUGS Sketch Challenge 

This card was made for the JUGS (Just Us Girls) Saturday challenge.  This week they have a Sketch challenge and it is sponsored by JustRite stamps.  You are asked to use JustRite stamps if you have them.

I always enjoy doing sketch challenges and since I love JustRite stamps thought I should create a card for this challenge.  I started this challenge out by choosing my design paper first.  I seldom do this.  This is from the Basic Grey "Cappella" Paper Pad.  I love the soft colors.  In this design there are mums, so I chose the mum stamp from the JustRite "Beautiful Blossoms" Set.  It was stamped on white card stock and cut out with a Nestie.  The flowers were colored using Copic markers.  I wanted to add a "real" bow over the stamped bow in the image so I stamped the image twice and cut out the largest flower and one set of leaves so I could put them on dimensionals.  This gives a more realistic look since I wanted a "real" bow.   The background was sponged with pearlized chalks.  A Sky Blue scalloped Nestie was cut out and attached behind the design with dimensionals. 

A Martha Stewart border was punched along one edge of Blush Blossom card stock and again using Sky Blue card stock.  A wide piece of sky blue silk ribbon was added across the border then another piece of trim on top of that.  ScorTape was used to attach all layers.  Pearls were added on each punched scallop. 

The sentiment used is from the new JustRite  "Baroque Nested Frames" set.  I love the beautiful font.  Two corduroy brads were added to the upper left corner to complete the sketch. 

This is a beautiful sketch and enjoyed creating this card.
