Hello

I hope all of you are doing OK.  It has been pretty boring not being able to leave the house, but we are staying well.  We have been staying home now for at least four weeks.  Our daughter has been doing grocery shopping for us, if we need any thing.  It looks like most people are staying home and hopefully this virus will soon stop spreading.   Having to stay indoors has kept me busy doing Spring cleaning and learning to create a lot of new recipes for meals and baked goods.  Luckily, we haven't gained any weight!!!   It is Easter Sunday and we miss being with our family.  The weather has been kind of crazy - for a while we would wake up to snow every morning but luckily it would usually melt by noon.  We would then have some beautiful weather then back to cooler weather with high winds and rain.  The lawn is starting to turn green but there are no flowers blooming yet.    I decided today I should work on creating my own paper garden!

I created a floral arrangement of Lilacs, Pansies, and Ferns.  They were all created using Susan's Garden Notes die sets.  The vase is a die cut 'cast off' from a die cut I used for another card.  It reminded me of a vase.  To dress it up, I used a sticker border I had in my stash.  The arrangement was attached to an embossed piece of white card stock. The sentiment is a sticker from my stash.

Prairie Roses

Today I worked with Susan's Garden Notes Prairie Rose die set and some Foamiran to create these flowers.  I am not real happy with my work creating the roses, but thought I would go a head and create a card with them.  With a little more practice, I think they will be perfect!

The petals were die cut out of white Foamiran.  First a light pink ink was sponged on the ends of the petals then a bright pink sponged on the edges.   The petals were shaped then glued together using hot glue. Two buds were created using five flower petals. The leaves were die cut using light green Foamiran.   They were sponged with a dark green ink and highlighted with red ink.  The stamens were created using some small white stamens. I used a yellow marker to color the stamen and a rusty brown marker to color the tips.  A small round yellow stamen was used in the middle.  The small stamens were glued around the yellow stamen.  I had to cut the flowers apart -- 2 petals in one piece and 3 petals in the other.  They were glued around the stamen.  To create the stems, I heated, stretched, and rolled green Foamiran.

I had fun working on these flowers, but want to create them again with Foamiran and see if I can make them perfect.

I love that we can use Susan's dies to create paper flowers but also use them for Foamiran flowers.

The Woods Would be Very Silent

Good Morning.  Today I have a have a card designed using one of Suzanne Cannon's beautiful Quietfire Creations stamps.  I love the message on this stamp -  it tells us we all need to try, even if we are not the best!

The Woods Would be Very Silent - Set of 5 Stamps - Mounted

I used a piece of 6x6 inch design paper for the background. To frame the sentiment, I die cut two ovals using the new Els van de Burgt Studio Entwined Ovals from Elizabeth Craft Designs. The ovals were glued to the design paper. Using the Misti Precision Stamping Tool, the sentiment was stamped inside the oval using VersaFine Black Ink.

Using Susan's Garden Notes Chrysanthemum and Zinnia dies, flowers were die cut for the bottom of the card.  I wanted to add a bird similar to the one in the design paper, so I used Susan's Garden Birds 1 die set.  The flowers and bird were attached at the bottom of the Entwined Oval.

You can purchase the Quietfire Creations "The Woods Would Be Very Silent" stamp set at this LINK.

Poinsettia with Ornament

It has been a cold wet day outside, so it was a perfect day to create another Christmas card.   Today I used one of the Ornament Set 3 Christmas Ornaments.  The design part and the bow was die cut using Silver Metallic Shimmer Sheetz.  It was backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive so it could be placed over the (red) solid ornament.  For the solid ornament, I added a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the front of white card stock and die cut it. The silver design was attached over the solid ornament. The adhesive was pulled off just the small dots in the center of the ornament and Forest Green Silk Micro Fine Glitter was added.  Once that was rubbed in well, the adhesive covering on the the rest of the ornament was removed and sprinkled with True Red Silk Microfine Glitter.  Again it was rubbed well to bring out the shine.

To create the frame for the ornament, a red frame was cut and over it is one of the die cut Fitted Frames 3 Curvy Rectangles.  A red Dot peel-off sticker was placed on each corner.  The red and green frames were attached to a different piece of design paper and attached to the card front.  The ornament was attached with glue inside the frame.

A red poinsettia was created using Susan's Garden Notes Poinsettia dies.  It was shaped using Susan's Flower Tool Kit.  Ten Susan's Garden Notes Whitepine Bough were die cut, shaped and glued to the corner of the frame.  One die cut Berry Branch was added over the pine boughs.  The red berries were created using Viva Paper Pen.  The poinsettia was attached using a dimensional glue dot.

To finish the card, a Merry Christmas Peel-off sticker sentiment was added below the ornament and Silver Peel-off line stickers were placed around the two frame edges and around the edge of the large piece of design paper.

Purple Poinsettias

We all know that poinsettias do not come in purple, but I have several friends who love purple so have created this Christmas card in their favorite color.  Soon, I  will be posting many more projects with poinsettias that are real colors to give you many more ideas for your cards/projects.

I always look forward to creating my Christmas cards because I love to create beautiful poinsettias for them.  These poinsettias were made with Susan's Garden Notes Poinsettia dies. Susan's Whitepine Bough & Pine Cone dies create a gorgeous embellishment to go with the poinsettias.  I used the new Quietfire Merry Christmas die for the Sentiment.  There are 12 beautiful Quietfire sentiments available right now from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Here is a closeup to show you how realistic Susan's Pine cones look.

Susan Tierney-Cockburn has a lot of new Christmas dies that will be released very soon from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I will let you know when they are available for purchase.
