Welcome Home Box

Well I think I am hooked for sure.  Today I worked on another project from one of Lauren's "My Time Made Easy" templates.  This one is called "Welcome Home".  The box measures  6 inches tall 4 inches wide 3 3/4 inches deep.  The roof opens to add a gift for someone special.  Here is the link so you can see the pattern and more samples in Lauren's store.  I didn't take a picture of the box open but you will be able to see how it works at this link.

This is my first time working with this template and it will be  easier for me to do a better job next time.  When decorating I have a few more ideas I would like to work with.  I didn't want to use designer paper on my house so I used the Cuttlebug  "Distressed Stripes" embossing folder to get a woodgrain design.  On the eves of the roof  I used decorative scissors to create a decorative edge.  The roof was scored using my Scor-Pal.

I wanted to create a very realistic  looking door so scored around the edges of the door pattern  to create a door frame.  Two circle punches were used to create the window in the door.  They were cut in half then two thin strips of cs was used to create  panels in the window.  A small black door knob was punched and added.  Does it look like a door?

A Martha Stewart punch was used to create the grass.  Small flowers were punched and added.  The windows were cut out with the template provided and yellow cs was added behind.  Some yellow Stickles was added to the windows.  A small Nestability design was cut and added on the front for decoration.  A couple of other small details I added was to cut very thin strips of cs to add along the top edge of the roof to give it a little more dimension and using the Scor-Pal added some lines on the chimney.  I know, I should have off set my lines to look more like brick!

Lauren and Katie Cotten have a great give away that I am entering this project in.  You can read all the details here.

Tomorrow I will have my post for the TMITA/PCC challenge.
