Winter Cardinal

I have never seen a real cardinal but I love to create cards with them.  Today I used the Garden Notes Garden Birds die set.

This is a 6-inch square card.  Cut a piece of black Soft Finish Cardstock 5 3/4 inches square and attach to the front of the card.

Cut a piece of white Soft Finish Cardstock cut 5 1/2 inches square.  Use the #2 and #3 Garden Notes Frame It/Stitched Circle dies and die cut a circle frame.  Use the #3 die from the same set and die cut an opening in the front of the 5 1/2 inch square.  Glue the circle frame around the edge of the circle in the white square.  This will give the opening a finished appearance.

Use a piece of the ModaScrape Thinking About Polinesia design paper to cover the opening in the 5 1/2 inch square.   Attach the dotted paper behind the opening.   Attach this piece to the front of the card.

Use the Beautiful Baubles die set and die cut two pine branches.  Attach them inside the die cut circle, as shown.

Use the Garden Notes, Garden Birds die set and die cut the Cardinal, using white Soft Finish Cardstock.  Color with markers.  Attach the bird on the edge of the circle frame, as shown.

Use the Words 5 - Winter Wishes die set to die cut the sentiment, using black card stock.  Attach to the lower right corner of the card.

Use Black Corner Peel Off Stickers (1018) to decorate the upper corners.

A lovely card, to see cardinals plant holly & put out black oil sunflower seeds daily. Took me eight years to entice them here in Texas, think it might have been the maturing of my holly. When I lived in Maryland I would have 20 or more hanging out in a dogwood tree waiting their turn at the feeder. Beautiful.
