Acetate Birthday Card

It's time for another JUGS Saturday Challenge.  The technique  chosen is to use acetate on your card. This means making a clear card or using it as an accent.

Alicia Weiman's birthday was last Wednesday so I want to wish her a  HAPPY BELATED BIRTDAY.  I created a card in honor of her birthday.   It is entirely created on the front of the acetate card.  The first picture above shows it with a liner so you can see the design better, and the second picture shows it without the liner.

I used rub-ons for the flourish, small butterflies and flowers.  The large butterfly (Gina K Designs) was white embossed on vellum and colored on the back with a marker.  It was attached to the acetate, just on the body, so the wings are dimensional.  I created a small envelope out of vellum.  Additional rub-ons were added on it.  The Happy Birthday greeting (GKD) was stamped in black and cut out with a small square Nestability then inserted in the envelope. A few pearls and a bow were added to complete the top of the card.  I created an "inside" insert using white card stock.  Attached to the front is a piece of pink Basic Grey design paper.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to create a border along the bottom.

I posted another project using a clear acetate pillow box three posts down called "Snowmen Melt Your Heart".

I am enjoying being a Guest Designer for JUGS this month.  Hope you will check back next Saturday for another great Challenge.

What a beautiful birthday card! And it just so happens that October 8th is my birthday, so I think you made that just for me! Made me feel really special. Thanks so much.

Selma! This is beautiful!! I have to say my favorite element that made me raise an eyebrow and grin at the idea, is your white embossed butterfly on vellum that you colored from behind! SOOO clever! I'm totally going to use that technique on something SOON! Love your rub ons and all the pretty little embellishments you added ;]

Thanks for the inspiration and also for being our fabulous guest designer this month!!

Flippin Fabulous! Oh my gosh - it's great - I'm glad you showed it without the liner so gals could really see that it's a clear card. Just wonderful!
