Silent Night

This card is made with stamps I received from Joan's Gardens.  The background stamp is Heartfelt Creations "Silent Night" and the other one is Heartfelt Creations "Wisemen Circle".  I took this picture at an angle so the shiny background would show up well.

My card base is vanilla card stock.  The designer paper is from the DCWV Mariposa Glitter & Foil stack.  I tried something I haven't done before.  I cut a piece of black card stock for the center of the card and stamped the "Silent Night" background using VersaMark Dazzel ink.  I then took Brilliant Gold PearlEx and brushed it over the ink.  I use cheap hairspray to set the PearlEx.    It gave me a very pretty "shiny" background to match my designer paper.  I created a border around this piece by placing it on the ScorPal and scoring an 1/8" line on the top then turned it over and scored another line 1/8" in from the first score line.  (One score line is inward and the other is raised.)

I made a rosette using the Tim Holtz Rosette die.  What an easy way to create rosettes.  After cutting the piece for the rosette, I used a VersaMark Marker to add some ink to the scalloped edges and along the "mountain" folds.  I then added gold embossing powder and heat set it.  The strip was then folded and formed into the rosette.  The "Wisemen" were black embossed on  gold card stock and cut out with a circle Nestie and glued to the top of the rosette.  I created a "triple" bow out of 5/8" sheer gold ribbon then used the heat tool to "crinkle" the ribbon.

All products used to create this card can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

JUGS Color Challenge

Inspiration Photo

This is my third week as Guest Designer for JUGS.  This week the JUGS Saturday challenge is a color challenge:  black, cream and kraft.  I love these colors together.   The above picture is provided for inspiration.

My card base is cream.  The designer papers are from the DCWV "La Creme" mat stack.  These are layered onto a piece of kraft card stock.  The stamp used is from the JustRite "Christmas Treasures" set.  Both the greeting and the frame were stamped with VersaMark ink on kraft card stock and black embossed.  The design was cut out with a round Nestie and is layered over the frame using dimensional tape.  I used scissors to trim around the outside design of the frame.  A piece of gold trimmed ivory ribbon was placed across the seam then a bow added.  The stamped design is attached over the ribbon with dimensionals.  A black flourish and three black brads were added to complete the card.

Stop by the JUGS blog  to read all the details about the challenge and see  all the designers beautiful cards.

I really appreciate you stopping by and  taking the time to leave a comment.

Enjoy your weekend.

Christmas Box

I can't believe I made the decorations on this  box!   I am so excited to give you a sneak peek of what's coming from Joan's Gardens.  The flower I made is an Amaryllis.  I also made the pine cones and greenery around them.  The greeting is from the JustRite stamp set "Just A Note".  This was such a fun project to work on.  Joan will be telling you more about the products she will carry to create these items next week.  I love to decorate gift boxes so I am very excited about this new product line.  Be sure to check Joan's Blog early next week.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great weekend.

Joan's Gardens Challenge 19

Are you ready for a new challenge? It's time for the next Joan's Gardens Thursday Challenge.  Joan is very busy this week preparing for her workshop on Saturday with Emma Lou Beechy, from Heartfelt Creations, so she asked me to to prepare the sample card for this week.   Here are the items Joan would like to see on your card/project this week:

  • Paper-Flower background paper - preferably Webster Pages
  • Rosette or paper flower
  • Stamp - Sentiment - preferably JustRite
  • Border Punch -preferably Martha Stewart

My card base is Not Quite Navy. A piece of designer paper from the Webster's Pages "Hollywood/Waterfall petite paper collection is used for the background. The Tim Holtz Rosette Die was used to create my paper flower. Using this die is such an easy way to create these beautiful rosettes. I added a Making Memories Flower Button to the center. To "antique" my rosette a little, I sponged on some Distress Ink on the edges and to the top of each mountain fold of rosette.

My sentiment is from the JustRite set "All Occasion Nested Sentiments and Verse" and is stamped inside the JustRite Baroque Nested Frame. I trimmed around the frame and sponged the edges with Distress Ink. It was attached with dimensionals. A blue butterfly was punched using a Martha Stewart punch. To add a little extra "blue" to my card I added a small piece of trim from the Webster's Pages "Color Hollywood" Desiger Trims. To create a pretty border along the bottom, I used a Martha Stewart border punch. To complete the card a few rhinestones were added.

All the products used in this card are available from Joan's Gardens.

I hope you will join us in the challenge this week. Be sure to check out Joan's blog for all the details and to see the prize to be given away.

Rejoice in the Season Pop-up Card

Today there are 33 beautiful cards created by the Heartfelt Creations Design Team on the  Heartfelt Creations blog post here.  You will find so much inspiration and even a video on how to create a gorgeous "Funky Fold" card.  Above is one of the cards I created for this week's post.

This card contains a surprise. It is a “Pop Up” card. On the front I created two frames using a Martha Stewart Punch. The verse from Cardinal With Holly Berries was stamped and cut out with a Nestability Label One die. It was sponged with Tim Holtz Distress ink prior to taking it out of the die. It was layered onto the smaller punched frame. The center of the larger punched frame was sponged with Distress Ink as well as the outside edge of the main card. The smaller frame was attached with dimensionals in center of larger frame. One of the cardinals from the Cardinal Pine Bough set was cut off the end and trimmed around the design. It was attached with a dimensional. To give it more dimension, I stamped the matching cardinal from the Cardinal Family precut set, colored it and cut it out with matching die. It was attached with a dimensional. Pearls were added to complete the front.

On the inside, another piece of cardstock was cut 1/8 inch smaller all the way around so it would fit well inside the card. Two tabs were cut at the fold to hold the dimensional cardinal. A piece from the Basic Grey “Jovial paper pad” was attached to the top. The cardinal image was stamped and trimmed around the sides and top then attached to the two tabs. Tim Holtz Distress ink was sponged at base of the cardinal and on bottom panel. Another Nestability Label One die was attached to the bottom panel. The inside panel was attached to the top card with ScorTape.

Heartfelt Creations products used:  HCPC 3348 Cardinal Pine Cone Border Precut set; HCPC Cardinal Family Precut set; HCD 706 Cardinal Family Diecuts; HCPC 3350 Lg. Cardinal Pine Bough Precut set; HCPC 3351 Cardinal With Holly Berries Precut set.

Be sure to go over and check out all the other beautiful cards on the Heartfelt Creations blog.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

I have another cute Sarah Kay stamp I wanted to show you.  This one is called "Angels Rejoice".  Isn't it a cute stamp!   You can purchase it from Joan's Gardens.  The designer paper is from the Kaiser Craft "Tis the Season Collection" paper pad also available from Joan.  The Choir boys were stamped and colored with Copic markers then cut out with one of the Nestability Seventeen Labels.  It was sponged prior to taking it out of the die.  Stickles glitter was added to the candle light and the glow above the candles.  A pretty bow was added as well as a few poinsettias to complete the card.

Happy you stopped by today.  Have a great week.

Noel Treats

Today I decided to work with a cute Sarah Kay stamp I received from Joan's Gardens.  This one is called "Noel Treats".   I used a piece of designer paper from the Basic Grey paper pack called "Jovial".  The papers in this pad are all so beautiful.  This is also available from Joan's Gardens.  The image was stamped and colored with Copic markers.  It was cut out with the Nestability Seventeen die and sponged prior to taking it out of the die.  A piece of ribbon was attached across the middle of the card and the design attached with dimensionals.  A matching bow was attached.  I purchased these pretty flowers from  Joan when I was at her workshop and decided it was time to use some of them.  A few Martha Stewart leaves were added as well as a few pearls.  I have a special little girl I plan to give this Christmas card to.  It is so nice to have a head start on all my Christmas cards.  Have you started making yours yet?

Acetate Birthday Card

It's time for another JUGS Saturday Challenge.  The technique  chosen is to use acetate on your card. This means making a clear card or using it as an accent.

Alicia Weiman's birthday was last Wednesday so I want to wish her a  HAPPY BELATED BIRTDAY.  I created a card in honor of her birthday.   It is entirely created on the front of the acetate card.  The first picture above shows it with a liner so you can see the design better, and the second picture shows it without the liner.

I used rub-ons for the flourish, small butterflies and flowers.  The large butterfly (Gina K Designs) was white embossed on vellum and colored on the back with a marker.  It was attached to the acetate, just on the body, so the wings are dimensional.  I created a small envelope out of vellum.  Additional rub-ons were added on it.  The Happy Birthday greeting (GKD) was stamped in black and cut out with a small square Nestability then inserted in the envelope. A few pearls and a bow were added to complete the top of the card.  I created an "inside" insert using white card stock.  Attached to the front is a piece of pink Basic Grey design paper.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to create a border along the bottom.

I posted another project using a clear acetate pillow box three posts down called "Snowmen Melt Your Heart".

I am enjoying being a Guest Designer for JUGS this month.  Hope you will check back next Saturday for another great Challenge.

Happy Holidays

Today I have created a card using one of the new ornament stamps from the Heartfelt Creations "Fancy Ornament Precut set" (HCPC 3337) and matching dies (HCD 705).  The designer paper is from the Anna Griffin "Calisto Christmas" paper pad from Joan's Gardens.

The ornament was stamped with gold embossing powder on yellow card stock and cut out with the ornament die.  The edges were sponged with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  A Spellbinder "Fleur De Lis" pendant was cut out and also sponged with the same ink.  Each layer was attached with dimensionals.  A Cuttlebug border was embossed and trimmed down to fit on the bottom of the card.  It was also sponged.  A bow and pretty pearls added to complete the card.

Tomorrow I will have a card for the JUGS challenge.  Hope you will return.

Have a great weekend.

Joan's Gardens Challenge #18

Well it is Thursday again and you probably know what I am going to say -- It is time for another fun challenge at Joan's Gardens.   Did you see the gorgeous card Joan made for this week's challenge.  You can see it here.

This week Joan's Gardens Challenge #18  is to make a card or project and use the following:
  • Paper-Vertical Strip
  • Die Cut Flower - If you don't have a die cut you can cut by hand
  • Some kind of alteration to card stock- Diamond Glaze, cracked ice or anything to change the texture...even embossing
  • A Swirl - either pearls, rhinestones, paper, or stamped
For my card I used Heartfelt Creations stamps:  Lilacs/Posy Bouquet Precut set, Posy Patch Clusters Precut set,  Posy Patch Flowers Precut set, and Posy Patch Diecuts.

I first stamped the Posy Bouquet (HCPC 3302) and two Posy Patch Clusters (HCPC) and colored with Copic markers.  I then stamped single posies from the Posy Patch Flowers and cut them out with the matching dies.   After coloring the images I added DG3 Art Gel to them and shaped the petals letting them dry.  In the meantime I selected two designer papers from the "Mariposa" stack.  I put a decorative stitch around the green piece using my sewing machine.  The pink vertical piece I just drew stitch line on.  The flowers were arranged on the card then the pretty "Zva Creative" self adhesive Pearl Swirl was added. MG3 art gel was added to the center of each flower and I sprinkled on tiny black beads.  Pink pearls were added to each corner to finish the card.

I hope you are joining in on Joan's challenges each week.  Remember you have a chance to win a great prize in the weekly drawing but at the end of the year, if you have won during the weekly challenges, your name will be in the drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Joan's Gardens.   I am sure you can think of lots of great things you could spend $100 on.

Snowmen Melt Your Heart

I had so much fun creating this project.  I started off with an acrylic Pillow Box and decorated a band to go around it.  I used the Martha Stewart snowflake punch to create a border on each side of the band then added glitter to each snowflake.  A piece of ribbon was run down the middle then two pieces of rick rack along each edge.

The Snowman is one I received from Joan's Gardens.  It is a Heartfelt Creations stamp called "Snowmen Melt Your Heart PreCut set" (HCPC 3342).  Isn't he a cute snowman.  There are two snowmen in this set.  I created a frame using Nestability dies and stamped the verse from this set in the middle.  The snowman and additional Martha Stewart snowflakes were added with dimensionals.  Glitter was added to these snowflakes too.  A bow was added to complete the package.  Since it is not Christmas time yet, I could not find Christmas candy so just purchased some Ghirardelli chocolate to put inside.  When I give this away at Christmas, I will include differently wrapped chocolates.  You could even put in some cute Christmas cards to give to someone.    I love snowmen so this was a set I loved working with.

Cardinal Bird Feeder

Today I have another Heartfelt Creations Cardinal for you.  Aren't these birds beautiful!  The name of this set is "Cardinal Bird Feeder Precut Set" (HCPC 3347).  Joan's Garden's has all these beautiful Heartfelt Creations Cardinal stamps in stock.

The image was stamped with black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.  It was cut out with the largest Nestability Label Ten die.  The card is 5"x7".   A piece of designer paper was layered onto brown card stock and attached to a white card.  To decorate up the frame I cut out some Spellbinder "Floral Accents" and attached one to the top of the frame and one in each of the lower corners.  Chalk was used to color the background and add a little color to the accents.  A red poinsettia and a few snowflake stickers were added.  To give the snow/ice a realistic look on the feeder,  I added some DG3 Art Gel, kind of thick so it would mound, then added clear glitter. This is also available from Joan's Gardens.   It really looks like piled up snow on the roof.  Love this look.   On the side I added a small piece of the same design paper on the bottom and the greeting reads "Snowy thoughts of you".  It is also in this stamp set.

Hope you enjoy seeing these beautiful cardinal cards.  I wish we had red cardinals in this part of the country -- I have only seen blue jays but think they are all beautiful birds.

From Our Home To Yours

Today I have a card made with the Heartfelt Creations "Cardinal Pine Cone Border" precut set (HCPC 3348).  The image was stamped with Memento black ink then colored with Copic markers.  The background was sponged useing sponge daubers.  A long deckle Nestability was used to cut an opening in the dark green card stock and was placed over the image.  A red silk bow was added in the corner.  The greetings used are from the Heartfelt Creations "Cardinal Holiday Mailbox" precut set (HCPC 3349).  On the front it says "From our home to yours"  and on the inside it says "Merry Christmas".  Glitter and rhinestones were added to complete the card.

The weather is very cool today and it seems like a great time to make an apple pie.   Bet my grandkids will smell it baking and come over for a piece.

Posy Thanks

I love this card and hope you do too.  Yesterday I used DG3 Art Gel on the leaves I created and was anxious to use this art gel on a glass vase and flowers.  It is so fun to work with.

The flowers I used are from the Heartfelt Creations Posy Patch Clusters Precut set (HCPC 3305); Posy Patch Flowers Precut set (HCPC 3305); matching Posy Patch Diecuts (HCD 701); the greeting is from the Swirly Autumn Leaves Precut set (HCPC 3328); the jar is from the Jean Pocket/Ball Can Precut set (HCPC 3307).
Two sets of the Posy Clusters and five single posies were stamped and colored with Prisma colored pencils and OMS.  The clusters were cut out with scissors and the individual posies were cut out with matching dies.  Love working with matching stamps and dies.  I used a flower shaping tool (or you can use a pencil) to roll the petals to shape.  MG3 Art Gel was applied to the middle of each flower and tiny beads added. I then added the art gel directly from the bottle to each of the petals.    I also added some of the art gel to the clusters to shape the leaves and added very fine glitter.  When the gel is dry it  helps to hold the shape you have formed with the petals and leaves.  I wish you could see how beautiful they look on the card -- the photo does not show off the beautiful finish the art gel gave them.

The jar was stamped with Memento ink.  A Copic marker was used to tint the water in the jar.  MG3 Art Gel was spread a little thick over the water in the jar.  I was anxious for it to dry so used my heat gun to speed up drying.  I was able to shape the jar a little so it looks rounded.

A Martha Stewart border was punched and added to the bottom of the card.  Two large round dimensionals were added to the back of the jar and attached to the card.  The two clusters of flowers were arranged above the jar then the extra posies attached with dimensionals.  The greeting was stamped with Vivid brown ink, cut out with an oval Nestie and attached with dimensionals.

You can purchase DG3 Art Gel from Joan's Gardens.

I want to announce that there are still a few openings for Joan's October 16th workshop?  Emma Lou Beechy, owner/designer from Heartfelt Creations, will be there with some wonderful projects for you.  I'm sure this is a workshop you won't want to miss --  you can get all the information and register here.

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Tutorial For Stamping Multicolored Leaves

This is my completed card using Heartfelt Creations stamps and Dies from the Autumn Splendor Collection.  The products used are: Bold Falling Leaves Precut set (HCPC 3333); Open Falling Leaves Precut set (HCPC 3334); Falling Leaves Diecut (HCD 707); Elegant Autumn Swirls Precut set (HCPC 3330); and Swirly Autumn Leaves Precut set (HCPC 3328) for the greeting.

All the products I am using today can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

This is a closeup of the arranged leaves.

To color the leaves, I have used several different Kaleidacolor Rainbow Ink Pads.  Here are the names of some of the rainbow pads that work great for this technique:  Autumn Leaves; Late November; Desert Heat; Cappuccino Delight; Pumpkin Patch, and even Creole Spice if you delete the blue and purple end.  You also need a very fine spray mister.

Using the solid stamp, twist the stamp around on the section of the colors of the pad you want on the leaves.  Before stamping, give the stamp a light mist of water.  This will kind of blend the colors.

This pictures shows you all the different color combinations I got from just the "Autumn Leaves" rainbow pad.  You need to clean the stamp each time you want to pick up color from a different area of the pad.

To over stamp with with Open Falling Leaf stamp, I used the Stamp Positioner so I could perfectly match up the lined image over the solid image.

Having both the Bold Falling Leaves  set and the Open Leaves set make a big different in the completed look of each leaf.  You can see how it looks on the bottom row when just the solid colored leaf is stamped.  On the top row you see it after it was stamped with the Open Leaf stamp.

Next I used the Falling Leaves die cut to cut out each leaf.  To match up the die with the stamped leaf, you should cut out a leaf and use the negative portion to place over the leaf.  There is a piece of tape holding the die in place.

After cutting out the leaves, I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to sponge the edges and even the center of each leaf.  The Tim Holtz sponging tool is great for doing this.

To give the leaves some shine/sparkle, I lightly brushed on DG3 Art Gel.  One of my blog followers told me about this great product.

After brushing on the DG3 Gel, I lightly sprinkled on some ultra fine glitter.

When you use the DG3 Gel, it softens the card stock and allows you to shape the leaf.  The leaves look so realistic after being shaped.

I hope this tutorial helps you learn an easy way to create beautiful autumn leaves.  I would love to read your comments.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.

Just Us Girls 1st Anniversary Blog Hop!

I have some exciting news.  Last week, Pam Imholz emailed me and said I have been chosen to be the JUGS (Just Us Girls) Featured Designer for October.  I am so honored and excited to join in on their weekly challenges.    Also, it is a privilege to be a part of this 1st Anniversary Celebration Blog Hop.

This week there is a "Sketch" challenge, shown above.  The stamps used for my card are from the Heartfelt Creations Posy Patch Flowers Precut set  (Item #3303).  I love working with the Heartfelt Creations stamps because they have both the precut stamps and matching die cuts.  I stamped three different sizes of the posy patch flowers.  They were stamped using VersaMark and white embossed.  They were cut out using the matching Posy Patch dies (Item HCD 701).    The layers were attached with dimensionals.  The Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

The pretty little posy flowers matched some old SU designer paper I have.  I created the JUGS sketch, then in order to get my greeting across the three panels, I decided to stamp it onto a piece of acetate using Stazon Ink. This greeting is from Heartfelt Creations.   It was attached above the three panels with  Glue Glider  Extreme Adhesive Squares under the two flowers.  A pretty piece of lace was added to the top with Glue Glider Spooled Ribbon Adhesive and then three additional posies added.  You will find a fantastic sale on Glue Glider guns and adhesives at Joan's Garden.

How to play: You need to upload your project for this week's challenge to your online blog or public photo gallery. Leave a link that goes directly to your project in the Inlinkz form on the JUGS blog. If you upload to online galleries,  use the keyword or tag, JUGS53.

If you are hopping along and gathering all the letters to get an extra entry into the gift raffle my special letter for you  is "C".  If you started with my blog, you need to go back and visit each of the designers blogs to collect all the letters in order.
