Vellum Lilac Flowers Mini Tutorial

Last night while I was watching TV I was using my Martha Stewart punches to punch out petals for more vellum flowers.  While I was punching out the smallest petals in purple, I was thinking, I bet these tiny petals could be shaped and attached to a beautiful lilac stamp that I have.  I decided to give it a try.  Above you can see my finished card, a closeup of the punched vellum flowers attached to the stamped design, and then a picture of the supplies used to do this.

The lilac stamp used is one I have had for many years.  It is by PSX (1994).  I have been collecting flower stamps for years.  It was stamped on white card stock and colored with Copic markers.  Yellow chalk was used around the design.  I shaped the tiny petals with the stylus  and using tweezers, added a tiny spot of glue to the bottom then started attaching them to the stamped design.  I had two shades of purple vellum so used both colors to give some depth to the flower. The reason I colored the design with Copic markers first  was because I was sure some of the stamped flowers would show, especially on the tips.  I was right, so it was important to color the image before gluing down the vellum flowers.  Cuttlebug corners were added to complete the front.  The design was then attached to a piece of  card Vibrant Violet card stock from Gina K Designs.  I love this color of purple with the flowers. 

I really like how this turned out.  What do you think?  Does it look pretty realistic?  One more thing I can do with my vellum flowers!

Shopping Willow

I have a quick post for you today.  I just received this stamp from Joan's Gardens. Isn't it cute.  The name of the stamp is "Shopping Willow" by Elisabeth Bell.  Joan has posted a cute card made with this stamp on her blog so be sure and check it out.  She also have a lot of other cute stamps in this line.

The background paper is from the Basic Grey "Green at Heart" paper pad and the flowered design paper is from "My Minds Eye".  The image was stamped and colored with Copic markers.  The bags were paper pieced.  The greeting is from the JustRite stamp set "Just A Note".   I couldn't resist adding some vellum flowers to finish off the design.  I need to tell you that the true colors on this card are not showing up well in the photo but it does all match.

For this week's JustRite Friday Challenge #024, you must use the above sketch combined with JustRite stamps and the requirement of a red, white & blue Americana color scheme in honor of the upcoming U.S. Independence Day.  This challenge has a really big incentive for me because this week's challenge winner will receive the two newly-released 2" square Christmas stamp sets (From Our House & Hearts Come Home) debuted earlier this week on the JustRite bog, PLUS a 2" Square Wood Stamper!  I REALLY want these new stamps!!!! 

When I read about this challenge I immediately thought about using the sailboat from the JustRite stamp set "By the Sea".  One of my favorite Fourth of July celebrations was a year when our son took us out on his sailboat in the San Diego bay. 

I did use the JustRight sketch to create the front of my card.  However, I took it one step further because I wanted to make my card resemble an American flag.  In order to do this I made an easel card so I could add the red and white strips below the blue and white piece.  I started off with a 5.5 inch square of white card stock for the front.  Gina K digital papers were used to carry out the red, white and blue theme.  For one of the lower borders in the sketch I decided to create some waves.  I used a Martha Stewart punch  to create layers of waves.  The "caps" of the waves were white embossed.  There are three rows to create depth.  Along the bottom, a piece of Gina K ribbon was added then three red stars cut with Nesties and added on with dimensionals. 

The JustRite sailboat and border are from the "By the Sea" stamp set.  It was colored using colored pencils and oms.  A second image was stamped and the sailboat cut out.  I wanted the sails to have a "billowed" look so attached the boat with adhesive then used dimensionals under the sails to make them bow out for the 3-D look.  I really like how it turned out. 

Next I cut out the base for the easel card.  Another strip of the digital paper was attached to the base.  The salutation is from the JustRight stamp set "Just A Note".  What a perfect stamp for what I was creating.  It was stamped using Navy ink then cut out with a Nestie.  It is attached on a navy and a red scalloped Nestie circle and attached with dimensionals.  To give my card some "glitz" I added glitter to the waves around the boat and on the stars in the salutation. 

My son is coming today for a visit and I will give this card to him.  I think it is one he will really like.

Girl Time

I love this card.  I used a new JustRite stamp set that I got recently.  It is called:  "Girl Time" and has six great centers and six borders.  I could hardly wait to make a card with this stamp.  Don't all girls love to get new shoes!!!  I stamped the Shopping Anyone center, cut it out with a Nestie then sponged around the edge.  The border was stamped and cut out with a scalloped Nestie.   Each scallop of this border was pierced then the edge sponged.  One more larger black scalloped circle was cut to layer behind the border.  Each layer was attached on dimensionals.  This is a 5.5x5.5 inch card.  A black piece of card stock was embossed with the Cuttlebug Argyle embossing folder.  A piece of beautiful design paper from the DCWV "La Creme" mat stack was added.  The flowers on this piece of design paper is "flocked".  I wanted to make the shoes in the JustRite stamp look the same so added some black flocking to them.  A perfect match!  Glitter was added around the little sign to give it more glitz.  The card seemed to be missing something so I decided to add the Martha Stewart butterflies.  These are from the punch that also has the stamps with it.  I love it because stamping the butterfly gives it a more realistic look.

Faith, Hope, Love

It's time for another Joan's Garden's Thursday Challenge.   The challenge this week is to create a card or project with a pretty Floral DP and a Martha Stewart Border and Corner Punch. 

My pretty floral design paper is from the Basic Grey "Cappella" paper pad.  There are so many beautiful papers in this one.  I cut my ivory card stock to make a 5.5" square card.  A piece of black cs was cut and corners rounded.  The Martha Stewart Border and Corner Punch I decided to use for the challenge is called "Lattice".  I started with a five inch square piece of green card stock and punched all four corners.  Then using the border punch had to punch twice in between each corner to get my pretty frame. A piece of the Cappella dp was placed in the center.

Three JustRite stamps sets were used for this card:  "My Garden"," Decorative Frames"  and "Loving Thoughts".  The flowers from "My Garden" were stamped twice and cut out.  Three of the flowers from the second stamped image were cut out to be added with dimensionals.  They were stamped using Vivid brown ink then sponged with Close to Cocoa ink.  A small amount of green was added in the center of each flower with a Copic marker then a black pearl added.  The frame from "Decorative Frames"  and verse from "Loving Thoughts" was black embossed on ivory card stock then sponged with brown ink.  It was matted on a piece of black card stock and attached to the center of the card with dimensionals.  A green satin bow was added and three pearls that were colored with Copic markers added to finish off the card.  The pearls look darker in the photo than they do on the card.

Acrylic Bookmark

This week is a fun challenge at JustRite Stamps.  It is to make a bookmark for either a child or an adult and show  your creativity with your JustRite stamps!

I have not made many bookmarks so wanted to participate in this challenge.  I wanted something that is different so decided to make an acrylic bookmark.  I started out by cutting my acrylic.  I save the packaging from my JustRite stamps and Nestabilities to reuse for projects. 

For the design that will be placed on the back of the acrylic, I  used a Martha Stewart border punch to create a background.  Two JustRite stamps sets were used:  "Beautiful Blossoms" and "Stitched with Love".  The challenge is to use a bookmark but also says to show your creativity with your JustRite Stamps.  Well I decided to use stamps from two different sets that might not normally be used together.  First I stamped the flowers and border from the Beautiful Blossoms set then cut around the frame with scissors.  I colored the design with Copic markers.

 I am always very anxious to see the ending of my book, especially if reading a mystery -- aren't you!   Well I thought the border from the "Stitched with Love" set would be great on my bookmark -- "Don't Keep Me on Pins and Needles . . .  Just Tell Me Everything!"    I put the border from the "Stitched with Love" set on the wood block and used a black marker to color only the top portion of the words on that border.  It was stamped on the top portion of the punched background.  I then cleaned the stamp very well with a baby wipe and inked up the bottom portion of that border and stamped it at the bottom.  The flower design was then attached in the middle.  I really like how it turned out. 

A piece of "Vellum Instant Adhesive" from Glue Arts was cut and attached to the back of the punched background.  I really love this vellum instant adhesive!    I cut it as wide as the acrylic bookmark.   It holds the decorated piece in place on the acrylic and you can barely see the adhesive.  The acrylic was folded over at the top of the completed design and creased with a bone folder.  A punch was used to make a hole in the top for the ribbon.  The punch wouldn't quite punch all the way through so I used a craft knife to finish cutting the hole.  Two pieces of red ribbon was put through the punched hole and attached at the top of the acrylic with glue dots.  A bow was made and attached. 

Hope you like this creation.  It was sure fun to figure out and now I have a new bookmark to use.

Easel Box Card

I have seen several easel box cards and thought they looked so neat.  I'm not sure how I found it but this morning I came across Joani's blog and her tutorial for making this box.  Here is the link to Joani's tutorial.  It was very well written and easy to follow.

I used red card stock to match the paper I wanted to use from the Mariposa paper stack.  I love this paper.  I followed Joani's tutorial for the box then decorated it the design paper.  I used two JustRite stamp sets "Birthday Wishes" and Victorian Wishes".   Victorian Wishes is a brand new release this month.

To decorate the top of the card I arrange some of my red vellum flowers around one corner of the sentiment.  Some yellow Flower Soft was added to the middle of the flowers.   A small red Martha Stewart punched butterfly was added.  This portion folds down flat on top of the box.  On the top of the box I stamped the sentiment from the Birthday Wishes set and cut it out with a Nestie.  A piercing tool was used to pierce holes in each scallop.  It was attached with dimensionals on top of the red Martha Stewart punched border.  Small pieces of the design paper were added to the front of the drawer and the sides of the box.  A black button was added for the drawer pull.  I plan to put a gift card in the drawer of this box for a birthday gift.

Eight Drawer Box

This is an eight drawer box.  The drawers are made with Navy card stock.   The top was covered with a sheet of 6x6 Webster's Pages.  The 6x6 cardboard on the back of two different Webster Pages pads were used for the top and bottom.  The design paper was attached with ScorTape.  There are four boxes on the bottom row and four boxes on the upper row; two boxes on each side.   Gold buttons are added for knobs.  One of the stamps from the JustRite "Loving Thoughts" set was stamped and cut out with an Oval Nestie.  Blue vellum flowers were added along with some black flourishes from BossKut.  A Martha Stewart butterfly was added.

This is how the four drawers were place on the 6x6 base.  ScoreTape was used to attach them to the base.  There are two rows of drawers.

Mouse with Sunflower

Summer time means lots of birthdays for me.  All six of my grandchildren have Summer birthdays.  This card is made for a grandson that loves "rodents".  He doesn't like the real kind but loves them in pictures and stuffed ones.  Guess that is better than snakes!

The stamp used for this card is Tina Wenke's "Mouse with Sunflower" by Stampavie.  As soon as I saw it I knew I had to purchase it for my grandson's birthday card.  The design was stamped three times.  The butterfly and sunflower were cut out from two images so I could add them with dimensionals.  The image was colored with Copic markers.  I used a white Inkessentials marker to draw lines on the shirt.  All kids love glitter so had to add some to the flower and butterfly.

The image was cut out with a Nestability Labels I.  The panel below it was embossed with one of the new Cuttlebug embossing folders called "Scrollwork". It was sponged with orange ink to bring out the scroll design.  Buttons were added to each corner. 

The background paper was in my scrap bin so I don't know which company it is from.  A strip of "scrap" ribbon was added along the bottom and the greeting from MTME was added. 

The Stampavie stamp and Cuttlebug folder were purchased from Joan's Gardens.

For Someone So Special

The challenge for this week is to create a card or project with a Vintage theme and use at least one Spellbinder Nestibility.  For my card I used a piece of design paper from Webster Pages.  I stamped a greeting from the JustRite Birthday Sentiments stamp set and cut it out with a Labels I Nestability.  It was sponged prior to taking it out of the Nestie.  Some brown trim was wrapped around one side and vellum flowers created to look like the ones in the dp were added. I added Flower Soft and a black rhinestone to the center.   A few brown pearls from Kaiser Crafts were added to complete the card.

I've Been Thinking About You

This card was made for the Tuesday StampTV Sketch Challenge.  

It was so fun working on this card because I LOVE the design paper I used.    I followed Melissa's sketch challenge using design paper from the Graphic 45 "Le'Romantique Collection".  The stamp used for the verse is from Gina K's "Enjoy the Sunshine" StampTV kit.  I love the script and it is beautiful with the dp.  It was stamped on ivory card stock.  To frame the sentiment, I used the ScorPal to draw  double lines around it.  Two pieces of the design paper were cut to complete the sketch challenge.  A piece of lace was placed over a strip of "Always Artichoke" card stock and placed over the seam.  I created three roses out of the dusty peach vellum and punched leaves from green vellum.  I wanted to create roses to match the images in the design paper.  The little butterflies are from Theresa's "Sending Sunshine" stamp set, also available from Gina K..  They were stamped on peach paper with brown ink and cut out to "flitter" around the flowers.  

The Graphic 45 Design Paper Pad, vellum, and lace were purchased from Joan's Gardens.

Just For You

I have already posted a couple of cards today but couldn't resist stamping again.  I made this card this morning and like it so much thought I would do another post. 

This card is made with two of the new JustRite Nested Frames sets:  "Victorian Nested Frames and "All Occasion Nested Sentiments".  These sets are used with the new JustRite clear stamping blocks.  You can order these stamps and all supplies I used on this card from Joan's Gardens.

To start off I used the peach dotted paper from the Webster's Pages "Lullaby Lane and Life's Portrait" paper pack.  I paired it up with the butterfly design paper from the Mariposa stack. Both these pads have such beautiful paper!   A piece of lace trim was attached with ScorTape across the seam. 

I made the flowers from Vellum. They are made just like the smaller flowers in my tutorial except I used a larger flower punch for the outside petals and used the smaller Martha Stewart punch for the petals in the middle.  The leaves are also punch from vellum.  Joan's Gardens does carry the vellum paper pad that I use to make all my vellum flowers. 

The JustRite Victorian Nested Frames were stamped on ivory card stock.  I used a craft knife to cut out the center of the largest frame and attached it to a piece of Sarah Sand card stock.  I did this because it gives a little contrast with the ivory and Sarah Sand cs.  Scissors were used to cut around the design on both frames. The verse is from the JustRite All Occasion Nested Sentiments set.   The inside frame was attached with dimensionals.  Sarah Sand ink was used to sponge around the edges of the greeting and also the edge of the design paper.  Three butterflies were cut out from the Mariposa butterfly paper and attached with dimensionals.  Small peach pearls were added to complete the card.

HAVE A COOKIE

Isn't this the cutest card!  Melanie Muenchinger designed this card using her stamp set called "Have a Cookie" available from Gina K Designs.  I recently purchased a book by Annie's Attic called "Interactive Cards" which features many cards by Melanie.  She also has a tutorial on her blog for this card here.  The card was very easy to make using Nestabilities, a Cuttlebug embossing folder and Melanie's stamp set. 

This next card is for Giovana's Friday Christmas Challenge over at StampTV.  This week the challenge is to make a card making the Sentiment the "star or focus" of your card. This card is white and silver but for some reason looks kind of gray or blue; not sure why.  I used Melanie's Munchinger's "Festive Frame" set for my sentiment.  I decided to make my background embossed rather than using design paper.  This card is 5x7".  Two different Cuttlebug Christmas embossing folders were used.  I embossed the center with the "Season's Greetings" folder then each side with the "Snowflake" folder.  I like the way this turned out.    A narrow piece of silver trim was added framing the "Season's Greetings" embossing.  The sentiment was embossed with silver embossing powder and cut out with a Nestie.  Two silver scalloped frames and one white frame were cut out with Nesties and layered under the sentiment using dimensionals.  To complete the card, clear rhinestones were added to some of the snowflakes and a silver sticker snowflake added under the sentiment.  This was a very quick and easy card to make.  It  is nice to get started on all my Christmas cards.

Birthday card

There are three cards posted today .

Tonight is the deadline for Carla's  Monday Color Challenge over on StampTV so I have another post today.  The colors to be used are pink, orange and green.  I would never think of this combination on a card but orange and pink are my granddaughter Shannon's favorite colors.  Everything in her room is orange and pink. 

I started by using a design paper from the Mariposa stack.  I purchased this pad from Joan's Gardens.  The orange paper with the butterfly design was my inspiration to use the butterfly from Gina's new StampTV kit "Enjoy the Sunshine".  The butterfly and flowers were colored using Copic markers.  The corners were die cut with a Cuttlebug corner die and the greeting was sponged prior to taking it out of the die.  A strip of grass was cut with a Martha Stewart punch and added to ground the flowers.  This ended up being a fun challenge and I love how it turned out.  Shannon's birthday is just a few weeks away so this will be her birthday card.  I'm sure she will love it.

More Vellum flowers and a Challenge

Good Morning. It is bright and early and I have two cards to post today. The first one was made when I was in Chicago at Pam's house (Stampin' Pam). She was working on a school project so I had a chance to see and "play" in her very organized and well equipped stamping studio.  She has a wonderful display of the gorgeous projects she has posted on her blog -- what an amazing designer!   Now to the card; I had so many choices and decided to work with this beautiful vine image.  I believe it is from PTI.  I had just punched a bunch of vellum flowers to leave with Pam, and ended up using some of them to make the tiny flowers for this design.  I did not have time to finish the card because it was time to head down to see if we could find JustRite stamps before Pam dropped me off to visit another friend, not far from there.  Pam completed the card.  She also posted this card and you can read her post here.  I love the tiny little flowers on the vine.

Last night Pam sent me the picture of the finished card I had started at her house after I finished making this card for Linda's Blast From the Past challenge on StampTV.  I had to laugh  because it was also made using had some yellow vellum flowers.   This card was made using a  stamp from Gina K's "Spring Mix" StampTV kit.  I thought it would be fun to give the flowers a dimensional look.  A Fiskars border punch was used at the top and the vellum flowers added where the holes of the punched out flowers.  These tiny vellum flowers also fit perfectly on the post of the mailbox.  To make these flowers I used the smallest flowers from the MS punch and added a tiny pearl to the middle. 

Linda's  Blast From the Past Challenge is to use colored pencils and oms.  That is how the mailbox was colored.  The leaves in the border punch really match the leaves on the mailbox don't they; and the vellum flowers are exactly the same size as the stamped flowers.  It really seemed to all go together.   The top of the mailbox was stamped twice and attached with dimensionals.  Isn't that squirrel cute!  The verse is also from the same stamp set.  It was sponged prior to taking it out of the Nestie.  The card stock and ribbon are from the StampTV kit.  The left side of the "fresh asparagus" card stock was embossed with the argyle Cuttlebug embossing folder.  A piece of Gina's yellow gingham ribbon was added along the side then I tried something new.  I placed a piece of ScorTape down the center and puckered up the grosgrain ribbon to give it some dimension.  I'm not sure if I like the look or not.  What do you think?

Plant a Little Sunshine

We finally have a beautiful sunny day.  I have some flowers and vegetables that I need to get planted and think today is a perfect day to do it.

This card is made using  more of my vellum flowers.  I think these look more like roses -- I used a different punch. For these flowers I used the Martha Stewart Four Leaf Clover punch and cut off the stem.  Do you think they look more like roses?   The designer paper is from the Basic Grey "Kioshi" paper pad.  The vellum flowers and leaves were attached over the design in the paper.  A matching green Martha Stewart ribbon and bow were added to the right side.  The verse and border are from the JustRite, "Seeds of Kindness" set.  They were cut out with circle Nesties and attached with dimensionals. 

Wow, that was a very quick and easy card. I like how it turned out even though it didn't take long to make.
