My card was designed using the Elizabeth Craft Lots of Dots embossing folder, Glitter Strips created using ECD Clear Double Sided Adhesive Strips and Silk Microfine Glitter, and Corners 1.  The magnolia is one I created several years ago and decided to use it.  The die cut behind the flower was cut using a Marianne Designs die.

With Sympathy

It is always sad when you need to make a sympathy card, but when you have Susan's Garden flower dies and A Way With Words dies, you can create a beautiful card. This is a card I made for a dear friend who recently lost her mother.

The card is 6x6 inches.  A piece of design paper with tiny roses was used on the bottom portion, and an off white piece of card stock that was embossed with dots used on the top.  A piece of lace was backed with Elizabeth Craft Designs Clear Double Sided Adhesive and attached over the seam line between the design paper and embossed card stock.

Susan's Garden Rose 1 dies were used to create a pretty rose.  The petals were die cut using a very soft yellow card stock then lightly sponged with light pink ink, for a variegated look.   The color of the rose corresponds with the colors in the design paper.

Susan's Garden Notes Queen Anne's Lace die set was used to create the tiny flowers to resemble Baby's Breath under the rose.

One of Els van de Burgt Studio Corners 1 were die cut using white card stock and attached to the upper corners.

The A Way With Words "With Sympathy" dies were used to die cut three tan sentiments and one white sentiment.  All the die cuts were glued together, having the white one on top, to give dimension, since it was not die cut in a bold color.
 
Self adhesive backed pearls were used to complete the card.

No Winter Lasts Forever

Good Morning. Today I have the card I designed for my Susan's Garden Design Team Blog Post for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

This card was designed using Susan's CountryScape dies.  When working with the CountryScapes dies, you can be so creative designing different scenes.   There has been some very terrible weather in our country this past year and it is nice to know that “No Winter lasts forever . . . No Spring skips its turn”.   It always makes me so happy to see the trees, shrubs and flowers come to life with glorious color.

This is how I created this scene:

1.  Use one of the Els van de Burgt Studio Wood Series, Through The Lens Patterned Cardstock, of your choice, for the background.  The piece I chose showed a gap between the wood slats, with a rail at the bottom.  I used a craft knife to cut along the top and bottom edge of that rail.  I wanted it to look like the rose-bush was coming through the gap in the fence; however with the grass and flowers at the bottom, this doesn’t show very well.
2. Die cut three CountryScapes Flora 5 vines.  The bottom of the vines were slipped behind the fence rail.
3. Die cut as many flower pieces and leaves, as you would like, using the spiral flower die from the CountryScapes Flora 5 die set.  I used two of the vine die cuts facing to the left and one I turned backwards to face to the right.  Glue the leaves and tiny roses on the branches of the vine.
4. Use the CountryScapes Cloud & Grass die set to die cut two grass borders.  Use the Elizabeth Craft Designs Fine Pointed Scissors to cut between each blade of grass to make thin grass blades. Glue to the bottom of the Patterned Cardstock.
5. Use the CountryScapes Garden Edges Daffodil die to create the flower border.  I cut the daffodils apart and glued them down behind the grass.
6. Use the CountryScapes Critters 3 die set to die cut the Cocker Spaniel dog.  I used Tea Dye and Antique Linen Distress Inks to sponge on color.  Attach with dimensional glue dots on the lower left side.
7. Use Susan’s Seeds of Thought Winter Spring rubber stamp for the sentiment.  I used black VersaMark ink.  Die cut the sentiment using the smallest die from the Stitched Ovals die set.  Before removing from the die, sponge on Tea Dye Distress Ink.
8. Use Garden Notes Bug &  Butterflies die set and die cut several butterflies.  Sponge on yellow and rust ink.  Attach with small glue dots.

I can almost smell those pretty little roses!

We Should Hang Out

Good Morning.  Today is my turn to post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog with my design team post.   I have created a card to make your mouth water, wanting strawberries.  I used the Joset Design Strawberries dies.  The card was created using one of Karen Burniston's Pull Card dies.

To create this Oval Pull Card, you can watch Karen Burniston's YouTube video at this LINK.  I followed all the steps for assembly exactly the way they are explained on the video.

1.  Start with card size of 6 x 8 inches.  Score on left side at 3 3/4 inches.  Tape Oval Pull Card die on score line, with die on the 3 3/4 inch side.  Run through die cutting machine.
2. Cut designer paper of choice for the inside (right side of card), slightly smaller (approximately 4" x 5 3/4", and attach with adhesive/glue.
3. Cut designer paper of choice for the front of closed card measuring approximately 3 1/2" x 5 3/4" and attach to front panel of card.
4. This card has an acetate window in the oval "swing" part of the card.  It also has an acetate pull arm to use for movable objects.  I suggest you watch Karen's YouTube video for complete instruction to see how easy this step is completed.
5. The basic Oval Pull Card is now complete to start decorating.
6. Die cut 5 large Joset Designs Strawberries and backing.  Glue yellow backing to back of each strawberry.  Die cut and add green stem to each strawberry.  Die cut 4 sets of Strawberry leaves and color.  I used white Soft Finish Cardstock and sponged on Memento Bamboo Leaves green ink.
7. Die cut 3 small strawberries and assemble.
8. Use Joset Designs Cupcakes die set to die cut 4 white flowers.
9. Using Karen Burniston's Barrel Basket with Pop Up die set, die cut the basket.  I did not use the handle.
10. Use Karen's Garden Bench die set to die cut two grass pieces.  I cut between each of the blades of grass with the Elizabeth Craft Designs Fine Pointed Scissors.
11.  Use Karen's Accordion Oval Card die set and die cut 2 of the smallest stitched oval.
12.  Use stamps in Karen's Cheeky Monkey Clear Stamp set for the two sentiments
13. Assemble the card as shown.  There are two large strawberries that show in the acetate window.  You need to glue two strawberries, back to back so it looks good when the card is closed - One of these strawberries is on the front of the card and one is on the acetate swing arm, on the inside.

This is how the card looks when closed.  The Oval Pull Card die has a little tab, which you can see at the top of the card, to keep it closed so it does not reveal the message inside.

Today I have a round card using the Els van de Burgt Studio Fitted Circles and Stitched Circle dies. This picture shows the card when it is propped open in order to see both the top side and the inside of the card.

 When you die cut the base card, you place the top of the die above the fold of the card so you have a round card that will open.  The base card was die cut using white card stock and all the other circles die cut in colored card stock except the one white Fitted Frames 5 Circle die cut.

The dies used to decorate the front of the card include the A Way With Words - Celebrate; Garden Notes Cosmos, Leafy Branch, and Small Butterfly die sets.

For the inside of the card, I die cut one of the smaller Stitched Circles, using white card stock, then used the Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper die to die cut the stand up letters, which hold the card open.  I die cut the Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper a second time, using Coral card stock.  The letters were cut off (leaving a border on the bottom) and glued over the white Happy Birthday die cut.  The same flowers and leaves decorated the lower edge.

The Butterfly Counts Not Months

It won't be long and we will see beautiful butterflies flitting around the flower beds.  Today I used one of Suzanne's, Quietfire Creations, Butterfly Circles,  rubber stamps for the focal point on this card.  

The Butterfly Circle was stamped, using VersaFine black ink onto Soft Finish Cardstock and die cut using a Stitched Circle die.  It was matted with one size larger purple Fitted Circle die cut.  The butterfly was die cut using Clear Double Sided Adhesive and then glittered.  The die cut Peonies were attached with glue dots around the lower left corner.  Two die cut bees were added.

Happy Easter

Good Morning.  I want to wish all of you a Happy Easter.  

My card today was designed using the Joset Designs Easter Eggs die set.  There are so many ways to create beautiful eggs.  Some eggs were created using only the solid egg die cut; some created with one of the pretty overlays attached over the solid die cut; some were decorated using the extra dots from the die cut corners and one decorated using small pieces of the Els van de Burgt Ribbons 1 and Ropes 1 die cuts.  The flowers were created using Susan's Garden Notes Rose 2 die set.  The Easter Eggs die set includes a die for grass, which I die cut 5 times and glued across the bottom of the eggs.

The letters for the sentiment were die cut using using the Alphabet 1 Caps and Alphabet 2 Lower Case dies.  The Corners 1 die set was used for the two corners on the top of the card.  To finish the card, I added a yellow bow.

Another Glittered Butterfly

Good Morning.  On my last blog post, I showed you a small butterfly I created after watching the Technique Friday with Els - Silk Microfine Glitter and Butterfly 1 YouTube video at this LINK.

Today I am showing you the butterfly I created, using the same colors and Butterfly 1 die, as Els used in the video. This butterfly looks beautiful on one of the Through The Lens Wood Patterned Card Stock from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  This natural wood background is perfect for adding beautiful flowers created with Susan's dies.

On the left backside, under the flowers, I added the Circles die cut, just for interest.  The flowers were created with Susan's Garden Notes Hyacinth, the Rose with the Garden Notes Rose 1 die, and the small white flowers created with the Garden Notes Queen Ann's Lace dies. 

Isn't that new Wood Patterned Card Stock perfect for the pretty flowers and glittered butterfly!

Lilie's and Glittered Butterfly

Today I was inspired by two things.  There are lilies in practically every store right now.  The lilies for Easter are white, but I used Susan's Garden Notes Lily dies to create yellow lilies for this card.   I watched Els van de Burgt Studio Silk Microfine Glitter and Butterfly 1 YouTube video on how to use her die cut butterfly and Silk Microfine Glitter and and was anxious to complete this technique - what gorgeous butterflies!!!  I created one butterfly just like Els shows on her video (same dies and same colors of glitter), then several others in different colors.  The one on this card is the Small Butterfly and fits well with the Garden Notes Lilies.  

After creating the Lilies and the Butterfly, I used a piece of the Els van de Burgt Studio Through The Lens Stone Design Paper to cover a 6x6 inch card front.  Three different sizes of the Stitched Ovals were die cut and sponged around the edges, using Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I know it is hard to see, but first the largest oval was attached to the upper left side of the card.  The next size oval was lowered and attached a little off the right side of the larger oval.  The smallest oval was used to stamp Susan's Seeds of Thought "No Winter Lasts Forever", and attached with dimensional tape, and placed horizontal.  

Susan's CountryScapes Grass Cloud die was used to die cut two strips of grass, which were off set together for the bottom border. As I usually do, I used the Elizabeth Craft Fine Pointed Scissors to cut between each blade of grass to make each blade thinner.  The CountryScapes Nantucket Arbor & Picket Fence die was used to die cut one fence.  One of the Corner 1 dies was used to die cut one corner for the upper right side.

Good Morning.   This is the card I designed for my Susan's Garden Design Team Blog post at Elizabeth Craft Designs.   This is  a card to welcome in the Spring season.

1.  Die cut five sets of Susan's Garden Note Pansy, using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Color flowers using PanPastels or markers. Pansies come in a variety of colors and color combinations so you can have fun choosing your favorite colors.  For detailed instructions on how to assemble this flower, please watch Susan Tierney-Cockburn's YouTube Garden Notes Pansy Video at this LINK.
2. Die cut Susan's Garden Hydrangea for small "filler" flowers around Pansies.
3. Die cut three Leafy Branch using white card stock and sponge lightly with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.
4. This is a 6x6 inch card.  Cut a slightly smaller piece (5 7/8" square)  Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock for background.  Emboss top portion using Dancing Leaves embossing folder.

4.  Cut white card stock measuring 5 1/2" x 5 5/8". Use Karen's largest arch Pull Card Edges die to create arch at the top of the longest end.

5.  Cut another piece of white card stock measuring 5 1/2" x 5 5/8".  Use Karen's Paris Edges die to create decorative edge at one end.  If needed, cut off a small amount on the bottom, depending on where the decorative edge is cut so it fits the front of your card.

6.  Use the Scallop die from the Pull Card Edges and a narrow strip of white card stock (approximately an inch wide) to create decorative edge that will fit across the bottom of the card.

7.  Use the small scallop die (the small die at the bottom in the picture above) to die cut a strip of scallops, centered, along the bottom edge of the larger scalloped die cut.  You want the die cut in the card stock, but do not remove any portion from this piece.  Use the die cut scallops as a guide to position adhesive-backed half-pearls.

8.  Die cut the small butterflies, using Susan's Garden Notes Bugs & Butterflies.  Die cut one Els van de Burgt Small Butterfly.  Color butterflies a light lavender.

9.  Die cut two corners from Karen's Katie Label Accordion die set.

10.  Stamp Susan's Seeds of Thought "Perhaps the butterfly is proof" on top end of the Paris Edge die cut, as shown in picture.

11.  Assemble the card:  Lavender card stock, Pull Card Edges, Paris Edge, Paris edge scallop, down on bottom.  Glue down green Leafy Branch, Pansies, and as many white flowers as you want (for fillers).  Attached Butterflies, corners, additional pearls and a lavender bow to finish the card.

Cute Oval Pull Card

I am going to be needing a few grandson birthday cards this summer. Sometimes it is hard to come up with something for a boy card, that they will get a kick out of.  Karen Burniston has a variety of very cute Character & Prop dies, along with very fun shaped dimensional card shape dies, that make this easy. 

I used the Oval Pull Card for my card base.  A piece of double-sided design card stock was used for this card.  You can watch Karen's YouTube Oval Pull Card Video at this LINK, for easy assembly.

The Character and Prop dies used include:  Jinks the Monkey, Palm Tree & Pail, and the Garden Bench - for the grass die cut.  Also used are the rope die cuts from Els van de Burgt Studio Ropes 1 die set. The sentiment, from Karen's Farm Greeting stamp set, was stamped on tan card stock and die cut with one of the dies from Karen's Gift Card Accordion die set. 

This is the front of the card when it is closed.  This die creates a notch at the bottom, to hold the card closed.

I think one of my grandsons will love receiving this fun card!

Friendship Isn't a Big Thing

I love working with the beautiful stamps from Quietfire Creations.  

Today I have used Suzanne's Friendship Isn't a Big Thing stamp.  This is a 6x6 inch card.  The verse was stamped on pink card stock and die cut using one of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Oval dies.  It was framed with one of the Fitted Frames 4 Curvy Ovals. The flower was created using Susan's Garden Notes Hyacinth dies.  The Ribbon border and corners are also from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Pop Up Garden Bench

Today I am so excited to show you my new card.  I have been viewing Karen Burniston's, Elizabeth Craft Designs YouTube Video's.  She gives such clear instructions on how to use her Pop Up, Pivot, Pull, Accordion and Pop Stand dies.  It is fun to watch them all, because you can see many different ideas that you will be able to when creating your cards.

With Spring almost here, I couldn't resist creating a card using Karen's Garden Bench die.  You can go to this LINK for complete instructions for assembly.

It was so easy to create the Garden Bench Popup, and also to learn how to add the perfectly cut background paper, by watching the video. Once I had the Bench popped up and the background design paper attached,  I had a blast going through my dies and die cutting items to create a complete Spring scene.

Karen's All Season Tree die set was used to create a flowering tree. The dimensional clouds are also from the same set. 

Behind the Bench, I used Susan's CountryScapes Cloud Grass die to die cut two strips of grass.  I used the Elizabeth Craft  Fine Pointed Scissors to cut between each blade.  The two strips were glued together and added at the fold line on the top portion of the card.  The grass in front of the Bench legs is a die from the Garden Bench die set.  Next Susan's CountryScapes Garden Edges Tulip die was used to create the border of tulips in front of the grass.  

There had to be "critters" in this scene.  The CountryScapes Critters 1 die set was used for the Cat and Squirrel, and CountryScapes Critters 2 was used for the three birds.  The CountryScapes Woods 2 die set used for the die cut Birdhouse.    

 In the upper corners, Els van de Burgt Studio Corners 1 set was used to die cut the corner die cuts, out of tan card stock.  The decoration on the bottom of the card was die cut from Karen's Agatha Edges.  Last but not least, the A Way With Words - Friends die was die cut twice and glued together for a dimensional sentiment.

Pop Up cards are always so fun to receive, and with Karen's dies and all her helpful videos, they are very easy to assemble. The nice thing about pop up dies is you can get dimension, but they fold down flat, will fit into a regular envelope,  and will not require additional postage.   I hope you will give them a try.

New Through The Lens Patterned Cardstock

Have you seen Els van de Burgt Studio collection of beautiful 6"x6"  patterned paper packs?  These paper packs are called Through The Lens.  Els has been taking pictures, for a long time, getting close up detail of Wood, Stone, and Metal.  Each pack has 48 sheets, single-side prints on 80 lb cardstock; each includes 16 different designs, 3 sheets of each.  These new papers can be used for card making, scrapbooking, mixed media, art journals and many other craft projects.  Today I have designed a card using one of the sheets from the Through the Lens WOOD series.

The above picture give you a preview of the beautiful wood patterns.

My card is 6x6 inches square.  I created a white frame to go around the outside edge.  Before attaching the white frame, I created (my version) of wisteria flowers, using Susan's Garden Geranium dies. 

 

 I used both petal dies from this set  to create a lot of petals.  The petals were die cut using lavender card stock then Susan's Garden dark purple PanPastel used to shade both the front and back middle of each die cut.  The two larger petals were shaped with the medium ball stylus from Susan's Tool Kit cupping them up.  The smaller petal at the bottom was shaped (cupped) up on the opposite side so that petal curled down, when turned over.  The two larger petals were curled inward, using Susan's tweezers.  If curled tightly, they will hold their shape.  Once all the petals were shaped, they were glued to a  card stock put cone shaped backing, tucking each set of petals together to form a cluster.  

The Leafy Branch die was used to die cut many branches for the "wisteria" vine across the top of the card.  The frame was attached over the green leaves then the flowers attached with dimensional glue dots.  Additional leaves were added around the flowers.

The A Way With Words - Hello was die cut using white 100 lb Soft Cardstock, and attached below the wisteria.  Four white corners from Karen's Oval Landscape Accordion die set were die cut and attached to each corner.  El's Small Butterfly was die cut using two shades of purple card stock and attached in the lower corner.
