Joan's Weekly Challenge

It is time for a new challenge at Joan's Gardens.  This week we would like to have you make a "Stair Step" card.  All the details about the challenge can be found over at Joan's Gardens.  You can use your own stair step pattern, but if you don't have a pattern I will give you the directions below for the one I created.

My card was designed using the new Heartfelt Creations "Delicate Aster" collection.  The design on the long panel was created by using a piece of the Delicate Aster Design paper for the background.  The vase of flowers is from the "Delicate Aster Base PreCut Set".  This stamp set also has a beautiful "vertical" sentiment that reads "Especially For You".  It was colored using Distress Markers, then the design was cut out with scissors.  The sentiments on the first two steps were cut of the Delicate Asters design paper and mounted on green card stock, then attached to the steps.  The butterfly is from the "Delicate Asters and Butterflies PreCut Set".  It was colored with Distress Inks and attached with dimensional dots.

Here are the directions for my stair step card:
Cut a piece of card stock 10" x 6".
Place the card stock in your paper cutter, short end across the top,  and cut one line 2.5" from the left side of the card stock, starting 1" down from the top.  Cut down to 7.5".  I am using a small Fiskars paper cutter to do this.  You can also do it with a Craft Knife.  If you have the Flower Tool Kit, remember that you have a knife in that kit.

You now need to create four score lines.  Score at 1" over to cut line; 2" over to cut line; 3.5" to cut line; 5" all the way across the width of the card; and 7.5" over to the cut line.  The wide panel will be on the back of the card, where I put the butterfly, once it is all scored and creased well.

This picture shows the long cut and shows  how it will look once you add the score lines.  The front of the card is on the left in this picture.

This card will go inside the pretty Heartfelt Creations box I posted yesterday.

I hope you will join us this week.  We are anxious to see your beautiful Stair Step card.

All the products I used can be purchased from Joan's Gardens:
Heartfelt Creations Delicate Aster Vase PreCut Set" (HCPC 3498)
Heartfelt Creations Deliate Asters and Butterflies PreCut Set
Heartfelt Creations "I Want It All" Delicate Astor Collection (A great saving on the entire collection.)

I purchased the Aster Collection from Joan's Garden because of your beautiful illustrations.

I do have a question....
Did you hand cut the butterfly? I don't see a die for it.
