Peacock Feathers

Peacock feathers are so pretty!  Today I used the Joset Designs Peacock Feather die set and a variety of Silk Microfine Glitters to create this card.

Black Soft Finish Cardstock was used for the background on the card front.  Two sizes of the Stitched Fishtail dies were used for the background for the Peacock Feathers.  I used Soft Finish Buttercream and Time For Teal cardstock.

Die cut two Peacock Feathers using Soft Finish White cardstock, that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the top.  Peel back sections on the feathers and sprinkle on glitter to color as you wish.
I used Blue Green, Deep Turquoise, Spring Peridot and Light Gold Silk Microfine Glitter.

Use the Celebrate die set and die cut the sentiment using either white card stock or Time For Teal.  Attach Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the cardstock so you can add Blue Green Silk Microfine Glitter, to match one of the colors on the Peacock Feathers.

To finish the card I added some turquoise rhinestones and bow.

Honey Bear

It is time for another Design Team Color Challenge at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The Challenge this month is "Things With Wings".  I chose the Honey Bear stamp set with matching dies to complete my challenge design.   You can view all the designer's projects at this LINK.

For today's challenge Elizabeth Craft Designs is giving away a "Things with Wings" pack which will include: Krista Schneider's Feathered Friends stamp & matching die set, ModaScrap Dancing Butterflies and Joset Designs Birds to 3 people.

To enter simply leave a comment on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Challenge post and tell us "What Elizabeth Craft Designs product is on your wishlist?”

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing

The winners will be announced on Friday, February 24 on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

I created a raised, open, frame for this picture.  It was created by using the Stitched Frame die set to layer two dies on white card stock and run through the die cutting machine.  Another frame was die cut, for the backing to the frame;  use the larger die used for the open frame.  It was die cut using light blue card stock.

Use the Outdoor Edges die set to cut the green grass and the solid green at the bottom of the card.    Glue the green card stock onto  blue card stock covering approximately 1/3 of the bottom.   Add dimensional tape to the back of the open die cut frame, and attach over the blue/green background.   Add the die cut grass along the edge of the bottom of the frame as shown in the picture.

Use the Honey Bear stamp set and stamp all the images you want to use for this scene.  Color images then die cut using the matching dies.  Attach the flowers and butterfly to the top edge of the frame.  Glue the end of the branch under the top right edge of the frame.  Put dimensional tape under the bee hive and glue under the leaves that are attached over the top of the frame.  You need dimensional tape under the bee hive if you attach the leaves up on the frame.

Use the Rainbow Sky die set and die cut one Sun out of yellow card stock.  Attach it to the upper right corner, inside the frame.  Arrange all the other die cut pieces inside the frame. The completed framed scene is attach to a slightly larger piece of black card stock.

It was very easy to create a cute scene with the new stamp set and matching dies.

Spring Blooms

This is a  card designed using the new Krista Schneider stamp set 'Spring Blooms'.  Also used are the ModaScrap Dandelion Fluff, Dancing Butterflies, A Way With Words - Sweet Smiles and Els van de Burgt Studio Fitted Oval Frames die sets.  The embossing on the white inside oval was done with the Curvy Leaves Embossing Folder.

Spring Blooms

For a watercolor effect on the flowers, use Watercolor Paper and VersaMark Ink to stamp the Spring Bloom flower and flower bud.  Emboss using white embossing power.  The embossing helps hold the watercolor within the lines.  Lightly dampen the paper and color the petals of the flower using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.  Use yellow in the center of the flowers, brushing strokes out from the center about 1/4 inch.  Working on one petal at a time, color the petals using a pink marker.  Add the color, starting just above the yellow, going up a short distance.  Use a waterbrush or wet brush to blend the color up to the outside edge of the petal, leaving the ends of the petal lighter than the lower part. Blend the yellow and pink together, which will turn a peachy color.  Color the bud using the same markers.  Color the leaves green, using the same technique.  Die cut the images using the matching dies.

Use the ModaScrap Dandelion Fluff die set to die cut one white Dandelion Fluff, using White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Use a piece of colored cardstock, that coordinates with your colored flower, to create a frame for the front of the card.  This is a 6-inch square card.  Use the second largest Fitted Oval Frame die set to die cut an open frame.  Use a score board to score around the outside edge of this frame, for a finished look.  Add two layers of dimensional tape around the edges on the back of the frame, to give it height.

Use a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock and the Curvy Leaves embossing folder to create the embossed background under the flower.  Attach this piece to the front of a 6x6 inch card.  Attach the Oval Frame over the embossed background.

Attach the large flower inside the frame using just one layer of dimensional tape on the back.  One layer of tape will lift the flower from the background, but be slightly lower than the frame which has two layers of dimensional tape.  Glue or use glue dots to tuck the Dandelion Fluff behind the flower.  You will need to cut the stem off this die cut, to get it to fit under the flower. Attach the flower bud, as shown in the picture, with the bottom edge under the larger flower.  Use glue or glue dots to attach.

Die cut the A Way With Words 'Sweet', using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Attach the sentiment to the lower right corner.   For easy placement, attach Clear Doubled Sided Adhesive on the back of the card stock before die cutting.

Use the ModaScrap Dancing Butterflies die set to die cut the two butterflies, using White Soft Finish Cardstock.  Attach to the card as shown.  Attach Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back of the cardstock, before die cutting, for easy attachment.

Add three sticky back pearls in the lower left corner to finish the card.

I love the watercolor on this flower.  I hope you will try this technique.

Lots of Hearts Valentine

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY.

Today I have a Valentine card that would be appropriate for anyone -- no flowers added.  I decided to see what I could design using a variety of  the new Heart die sets from Elizabeth Craft Designs. The Heart die sets include:  Stitched Hearts, Scalloped Hearts, Leafy Lace Heart, and Entwined Hearts.

I used red and Kraft card stock for the color theme.  The Els van de Burgt Studio Scalloped Rectangle was die cut out of Kraft card stock to arrange the hearts on.  I used the Stitched Fishtail Banners die set to place part of the sentiment on.  Two little hearts from the Entwined Hearts die set were attached to twine and hung from the Banner.  A white opaque marker was used to create dots on the large red heart

Have a wonderful day!

The die sets used for this card are linked below.
