Sending Sunshine

Doesn't this look like a beautiful place to sit and relax!  This card was created using Theresa Momber's "Sending Sunshine" stamp set, available from Gina K Designs.  I decided to create a scene using four stamps in this set.  First the tree was stamped on white card stock then the sky was sponged on.  The tree was colored with Copic markers.  I wanted to make the tree dimensional so l used purple Flower Soft on the flowers.  I love how this looks.

Next I cut a piece of Basic Grey design paper layered onto white card stock and cut the opening using an oval Nestability.  This was attached over the tree using dimensionals to give the card depth.  The bench, bird bath and butterflies were stamped and cut out then added with dimensionals.  The water in the bird bath has diamond glaze added to it.

The bench and bird bath looked like they were just "floating" on the front of the card so I used  scissors to create layered grass.  This seemed to ground these items.

This is a beautiful set by Theresa.  There are eleven images and five greetings so there are lots of possibilities for creating pretty scenes or to just use the stamps individually.

 

Blast From the Past Challenge Crayon Resist

Hi Everyone.  It is time for another StampTV  Blast From the Past Challenge.  I love hosting these challenges every Friday.  This week I chose Gina K's technique video "Crayon Resist".  Have you ever done this technique?  It is kind of like magic.  My challenge for you this week is to watch Gina's video and create a card using this technique.  You will find all the details in the Challenge info on StampTV.

I used some Basic Grey dp and a piece of white cs that was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss dots embossing folder for the background.  A border was created with a Martha Stewart punch. Two small strips of turquoise cs were added to the top of the border.  The image is from Theresa's Purrr-fectly Delightful stamp set, available from Gina K Designs.  The design was then completed using the technique explained on the video.

Hope Your Day is Purrr-fectly Delightful

Tonight I am posting another card made with Theresa Momber's new "Purrr-fectly Delightful"  stamp set available from Gina K Designs.

This little kittie is so cute sitting in the cup.  I decided to paper piece this design.  The image was stamped on white card stock and again on dp.  The kittie was colored using Copic markers.  The cup was cut out and pieced. The flowers on the saucer were also colored with Copics.  The image was cut out with square Nestabilities.  The scalloped frame is Certainly Celery cs and each scallop was pierced.  The background dp was pulled from my scrap box.  I think it matches the design very well.  The verse was stamped and cut out with a Nestability tag. A small celery pearl was added on each end.  A flower was added to the upper corner then some Flower Soft added to the center of it.  Also a little Flower Soft was  added to the center of the flowers on the saucer.  Three small butterflies were punched and added and three pearls were added to the side  to complete the card. 

You're Sweet

Hope you are having a good weekend.  Today I am posting a card I made with Theresa Momber's new stamp set "Purrr-fectly Delightful".  Yes, this is the same set that has the cute kitty stamps.  I am so ready for Spring to arrive and have a yard full of flowers.  This stamp set is available from Gina K Designs.

Two pieces of designer paper from the Latte Stack by DCWV were used for the background.  I have been making so many red and white cards it was fun to use different colors, and I love purple so really enjoyed making this card.

A Martha Stewart border was added across the middle of the card.  Two Nestie labels were cut out using different textured card stocks.  The flowers were stamped twice because I wanted to pop the flower on the right.  The image was colored with Copic markers.  The center of the daisies have brown Flower Soft (available from Joan's Gardens) added.  Doesn't that make a realistic looking flower center!  Diamond glaze was added over the water in the vase.  The vase and flowers were attached with dimensionals and the extra flower on the right is also attached with more dimensionals.  The verse was stamped and punched out and some purple rhinestones added to complete the card.  I am sure I will be using this image a lot.

Happy Kitty

I was gone last night and didn't get my post  done so will post this morning.  This is a card I made using one of the new releases from Gina K Designs.  This kitty is from Theresa Momber's new set  called "Purrr-fectly Delightful". 

The two white backgrounds were embossed using Cuttlebug embossing folders.  The kitty was stamped using Vivid brown ink and colored with Copic  markers then cut out with Nestabilities.  A Martha Stewart punch was used for the border along the bottom.  The hearts were cut out with sizzix dies and attached with dimensionals.  A strip of dp was added and a white polka dot bow attached to match the background.

Explore, Dream, Discover

What a busy time of year!   I have been behind on keeping up with my postings but I have a lot of company and find it very hard to find time to stamp.  This year the last week of December is especially busy.   Lots of fun going on. 

Gina K has posted the December Customer Blog Hop and I wanted to participate.  The only requirement is to use one of the Gina K Designs  newly released stamp sets.  One of the new sets I ordered was "Life Is Good" by Theresa Momber. This is my first card made with this great set.   I decided to create a scene using the train and background scenery. 

I used a piece of designer paper in the background.  The trees and pond was stamped using black Memento ink onto a piece of white cs.  The trees and rocks were colored with Copic markers.  I used sponge daubers to color the sky and pond.  VersaMark ink was used on the pond then it was clear embossed to look like water.  Snow was then stamped and white embossed over the scene. Polar White Flower Soft was added to give the feel of real snow on the ground.   The train was stamped and colored with Copic markers then cut out.  A white oval frame that was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder was attached with dimensionals above the scene.  The train was added with dimensionals.  A narrow blue frame was cut to make a border around the design.  The greeting is part of the stamp set and was mounted on blue and also attached with dimensionals.  Some snowflakes were added in the corner to finish the scene.  This card measures 5x7 inches and does not require extra postage.

Merry Christmas

Good Morning.  Can you believe it is now December.  This year has flown by for me. 

Today I want to post another card I made with one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets:   "Very Merry Christmas" by Theresa Momber.  This set is available from Gina K Designs. 

This card is 5x7 inches.  For color, I only wanted to use red and green.  This beautiful tree was stamped with Memento black ink onto glossy cs and colored with Copic markers.  It was cut out using Nestabilities and mounted on red.  A piece of white cardstock was cut out slightly smaller than the base card.  The right side was embossed using one of the new Cuttlebug Christmas embossing folders "Season's Greetings".  The stamped image fit perfectly on the left side of the embossing.  To add some sparkle,  rhinestones were added to the card.

Two more "A Very Merry Christmas" cards

I have two more cards I made for Theresa using her "A Very Merry Christmas" stamp set I thought I would post today.  Both cards were very quick and easy to make.

This is another card made using the tutorial I made below "A Cuttlebug/Nestability embossed frame".  This time I used the Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder.  These bells were stamped with Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.  I used a glitter pen to go over the embossed snowflakes then added some punched snowflakes that have dazzeling diamonds glitter added.  I used a glue pen to cover each flake with glue then dipped them into the glitter.  They were placed randomly around the bells.  Super fine glitter was added to the ribbon and bells.  All the glitz does not show up in the photo.  The embossed piece is attached to a piece of green CS.

The holly was gold embossed in the upper left corner.  Originally I was going to make a one layer card with the Labels Five Nestability embossed in the middle.  I didn't  like it so decided to cut out another label and mount it, with dimensionals,  over the original one.  The verse was also gold embossed and a gold leaf pen used to go around the outside edge to make it stand out.  A piece of gold cord was added to the bottom.  Red rhinestones and a gold bow added to compelte the card.  It is mounted on  a piece of brushed gold CS. 

Elegant Holly

Made another quick and easy card so thought I would do a second post today.  Be sure to scroll down to see the snowman card I made earlier today. 

This card is made using Theresa Momber's "A Very Merry Christmas" stamp set, available from Gina K Designs.  I want to thank Theresa for inviting me to be one of her Guest Designers this month.  It has been a real honor.  

This card went together very quickly.  The holly was stamped using black Memento ink onto watercolor paper and colored with Peerless Watercolors.  Aren't these watercolors beautiful.  The frame and corners were cut with the  Nestabilities Fleur de lis die.  I really like this design.  The green CS is from GKD and was embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflake folder.  The holly is up on dimensional dots.  A few white pearls were added to complete the card.

Here is another post for Theresa as her Guest Designer this month.  As you probably know, this is the beautiful tree from "A Very Merry Christmas". 

The tree was stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.  The background was colored with yellow shimmery chalks.  The image was cut out with Nestabilities then a gold liquid pen was used to add the gold border.  The background is a piece of SU retired designer paper layered onto a piece of Forest Foliage CS.  The verse is from the same stamp set and cut out with Nestabilities.  A piece of white and gold ribbon, from Gina K Designs,  was layered across the middle.  I decided to add a little Polar White Flower Soft which gives the tree additional dimension.  I purchase my Flower Soft from Joan's Gardens.   Gold embellishments were added to complete the card.

Happy Holidays

This is a very quick and easy card to make.  I used "A Very Merry Christmas" available from Gina K Designs.  I just love using this set illustrated by Theresa Momber.   There are so many different ways you can use each image.  This time I just did a simple embossing but it is also beautiful when you color it.  Hope you have visited StampTV to see all the beautiful cards and projects made with this set.

I started off by using detail black embossing powder to emboss the design on Kraft card stock.  I really like the look of black and tan; it seems to give it a classy look.  Black ribbed ribbon was added on each side of the design then a piece of gold cord layered on top of it.  Three gold brads were added on each side.  This piece is mounted on black card stock. 

Warm Winter Wishes

Tonight's card was made with the fireplace from "A Very Merry Christmas".  The image was stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers.  It is framed with Night of Navy and Real Red CS.  The blue background was embossed with the Distressed Strips Cuttlebug embossing folder.  Holly leaves from "A Very Merry Christmas" were colored and cut out then arranged under the flower.  A gold filigree ribbon was placed under the flower and gold embellishments and bow were added to complete the card.

A Very Merry Christmas Blog Hop plus Cuttlebug/Nestability Embossed Frame Tutorial

Tonight I am particating in a StampTV Blog Hop for "A Very Merry Christmas" available from Gina K Designs.  It has been so much fun being one of Theresa Momber's Guest Designers for this beautiful set.  I have TWO posts for you this evening.  The card above, then a  tutorial below on how I created a one layer card with a Cuttlebug embossed border  which includes a Nestability embossed frame in the center.  I previously posted several cards on my blog using this technique and have received  a lot of requests for a tutorial.  Tonight I am going to show you how I did it.

First, for the above card I used the Snow Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background.  It was attached to a red background.  The holly stamp from "A Very Merry Christmas" was stamped three times on glossy CS then colored with Copic markers.  The bells were stamped with detail gold embossing powder on shiny gold CS and cut out.  Don't they look like real gold bells!    The white background was cut out with petite oval Nestabilities and embossed with the Swiss dots embossing folder.  A larger scalloped Nesties was used for the green part of the frame.  A paper piercing tool was used to punch holes in each scallop.  The holly was placed under the green scalloped frame and the bells attached with the Glue Glider adhesive.  Three gold brads were added to complete the card.

TUTORIAL For Cuttlebug/Nestability embossed card.

A while back I read where someone used a wooden frame to create a Cuttlebug embossed card without it embossing the center of the card.  I do not remember where I read this to give credit to the person.  The info I read only used the cuttlebug for the embossing and I wanted to take it a step further and emboss the center using a Nestability to give it a nice crisp frame.  I have taken pictures to show you how I did this.    Here are the  embossing supplies I started with.

These thin wooden frames can be purchased at a craft store.  They are just a little larger than a Cuttlebug embossing folder and about the same thickness as a Cuttlebug B plate.

To start with, I took a ruler to draw lines along the side of the opening in the frame so it would be easier to center my embossing folder.  I didn't have this line drawn when I made my first card, so it doesn't show up in any of ther other photos.  I feel drawing these lines is an important step in order to easily center the embossing folder over the opening.

I have a Tim Holtz ruler that is very easy to line up straight to draw my lines.  I purchased my ruler from Gina K Designs.  It is a clear ruler with a lot of black lines.

I am doing my embossing on a Big Shot, but this also works using the Cuttlebug.  You first layer the A plate, the wooden frame, then the embossing folder with the card stock inside it.  You DO NOT use the bottom B plate when doing this.

Next you put the B plate on TOP of the embossing folder and roll through the machine to emboss.  I have a thin cardboard shim that I had to use.  If you don't get a good embossed design, the first time, you will also need to add a shim.  My shim is card board off the back of a tablet.

This is what it looks like when you take it out.  I wanted to take it a step further and emboss it with an oval Nestability for a good defined frame.

I am showing the layers upside down.  I actually turn this stack over to emboss it.  The bottom layer (as shown) is the B plate, the cardboard shim, the tan embossing pad, the embossed card stock, and then the oval Nestability.  I don't use a low tack tape to hold the Nestie but you can if you want.

You then place the other B plate on top being careful to not move the Nestability.  I then flip this over and run it through the machine with the Nestability on the bottom of the stack. 

This is how it looks now.  Don't you like the embossed frame?

Now for the card I made above, I started sponging on some So Saffron ink with a sponge dauber.  You have to replace the Nestability so you will get a white border.  I just held it in place with my hand as I sponged.  I am working on a non-stick Teflon Craft Sheet, which can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

Here you can see that nice white frame.  It gives it the appearance of layers.

I put the Nestability back on and continued to add Really Rust and Chocolate Chip inks.  I didn't mention that I used these larger sponge daubers that I purchased from Gina K Designs.

After completing these steps, I stamped the holly from "A Very Merry Christmas".  It was colored with Copic markers and some glitter added to the bow.  A prima flower, with a rhinestone center,  was added as well as some cuttlebug cut corners.

Guest Designer Post

Tonight you are going to see some more ideas using Theresa Momber's  new Christmas set "A Very Merry Christmas",  available from Gina K Designs.  Theresa asked Sharri Seffens and me to be her guest designers this month and tonight she is spotlighting Sharri on her Blog.   You will want to be sure and check out Theresa's blog then go over to see what Sharri has posted on her Blog.

Tonight my card is completed using silver, navy and white.  The tree was embossed using Detail Silver Embossing Powder.  It was cut out using the Classic Oval Nestabilities.  It is matted on a piece of shiny silver card stock.  After the two pieces were attached together, a small portion of the left side was cut off.

The top of the card is a piece of "retired" SU designer paper and the bottom is Night of Navy CS.  They are mounted on a piece of silver card stock.  A piece of silver ribbon was attached across the middle.  The main image was attached first.  The salutation was stamped using Night of Navy ink and inserted into the silver hardward tag.  A SU  embelishment was added at the top and a few silver leaves were punched with a Martha Stewart punch and placed around it.  Some clear rhinestones were added to complete the card.

Color Challenge

On StampTV, Theresa is hosting a Color Challenge.  The colors to be used are Olive, yellow, and Sand.  I embossed a piece of olive card stock with the Holly Cuttlebug embossing folder and used the SU ticket corner punch on each corner.  This was layered onto a piece of Sand CS.    The Holly image from "A Very Merry Christmas" was stamped on So Saffron card stock and colored with Copic markers.  The reason I stamped this on colored card stock was because I wanted to layer it on a So Saffron background and wanted to just cut around the design.  The background was cut with So Saffron and Sand card stock with rectangle Nestabilities.  Some micro fine glitter was added to the bow and  matching pearls added to complete the card.

This challenge closes tomorrow so I better go post my card to the challenge.  I'll have another card for Theresa's Blog hop this evening, so check back.

Christmas Holly

This is a card made with the Holly from Theresa Momber's "A Very Merry Christmas" stamp set.  I am not going to go into detail tonight on how I made the background  because I am working on a tutorial, which will be posted later this week.

The back panel was embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder and matted with Gina's Rocket Red card stock.  The image was stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copics.  It was cut out with Petite Oval Nestabilities and matted on Rocket Red card stock.    Glitter was added to the snowflakes.

Peace, Love & Joy

This card is made using Theresa Momber's "A Very Merry Christmas" stamp set. The background is "All Spruced Up" (green) card stock and the designer paper is from Theresa's Digital paper "All Decked Out", both available from Gina K Designs.

I wanted to do something different with this design. I wanted the bells to have velvet ribbon so I had to stamp the image twice. The first time I stamped it on brushed gold card stock and gold embossed it. The second time I stamped it using Memento Black ink onto a piece of velvet paper. Both images were cut out. The background holly was stamp in black ink and colored with Copic markers. Long rectangle Nestabilities was used to cut it out. A sponge dauber and So Saffron ink were used to highlight the background before taking it out of the die. After arranging the ribbon and bells on the design, I didn't think the bells were shiny enough so I added some micro fine glitter to them.

The verse is from Theresa's set. It was stamped in green then cut out with petite scallop oval Nestabilities. Green ink was sponged on before removing it. A Martha Stewart punch was used for the borders around the main image and a few glitter glue dots added to complete it.

May Peace be your Gift

This is another beautiful stamp in Theresa Momber's "A Very Merry Christmas" stamp set, available from Gina K Designs. I always love to decorate with holly during the holidays. I have a variegated holly bush growing in my yard so went out and picked a leaf so I could pick up the right colors for this design. The holly was stamped using Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers. I first went around the edges of each leaf with a pale yellow then filled in with the green. My intention was to make a CAS (clean and simple) card but dumb me, I went out of the lines when coloring in the ribbon and had to cut out the design. I decided since I had to do that I would pat the VersaMark pad on the design and add clear embossing powder. By doing this, it really brought out the colors. I used a Cuttlebug border embossing folder along the bottom edge of the card and then scored three lines above it with the ScorPal. The verse is out of the same set and was black embossed. I attached the holly using the ProGlider. This tape is very strong and holds the design down flat. Three small red rhinestones were added to the bottom to complete the card.

Guest Designer for Theresa

What a happy day. The incredibly talented Theresa Momber emailed me a couple of weeks ago and asked if I would be a Guest Designer for her. She has designed a beautiful new stamp set, "A Very Merry Christmas", which is available from Gina K Designs. Theresa is one of my stamping "idols" so it was such an honor to accept this invitation.


The day I received this set from Theresa, I made a very traditional type Christmas card using red and green. You can see this card on Theresa's blog. This set is so versatile. I decided to create something very different for you tonight so I have gone from "traditional" to "elegant".

Isn't this a beautiful tree! The colors I used for this card are Baja Breeze and White. The tree was embossed using detail white embossing powder. To give it an "elegant" look, I decided to cut it out with the Label Six Nestability dies. The designer paper is from SU and the white CS was embossed with the SU Sizzix Finial Press embossing folder. A piece of ribbon was put through the Xyron Sticker machine and attached across the middle of the card. Flat backed pearls were added to complete the elegant look of this card.

I love working with Theresa's beautiful Christmas stamps. She also designed a digital paper pack called "Deck the Halls" to go with this set. I have more cards made, so be sure to check back here for more ideas using this set .
