TMITA/PCC "Lilies"

This week Sue Walsh is the challenge hostess at TMITA/PCC. The design we were asked to use is Nina's "Easter Lilies".   The challenge is to make a card to showcase this beautiful image however you like.

I printed off the image and colored it using Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS.   It was pressed into a VersaMark ink pad then embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  A Nestabilities Label 6 frame was cut out and the design attached with mounting tape.  Pearls were added on each side.  The background was embossed with the QuickKuts Diamond and Dot embossing folder.   Cuttlebug flourish corners were added to complete the card.

This is my last post for TMITA/PCC as a design team member.  I have really enjoyed working with Nina and using her digital images, but I have a very busy schedule for the next couple of months so thought it best to resign.  I want to thank Nina for giving me the opportunity to be on her design team.  It has been a lot of fun working with her and all the design team members.  In a few weeks I will be going to Indiana to do a workshop at Joan's Gardens then spending some time in Chicago visiting friends.  While I am in Indiana I am hoping I will get a chance to meet Nina, since she doesn't live very far from where I will be.

TMITA/PCC Recipe Challenge

It's time for a "recipe" challenge at TMITA/PCC this week.  Kim is our hostess and has asked us to use any acquired PCC image and to follow this recipe: 

•  a 4x4 size card base
•  1 ribbon
• 1 single type of embellishment (e.g., brads, buttons, clips, etc.) in ANY quantity (but only 1 type!)
• 1 stamped/printed sentiment
•  NO patterned papers

 The image I chose this week from Nina Paper Cupcakes store is "Aloha".  Since this is a 4x4 size card,  and we are not to use any patterned papers, I decided to print the image large enough so it covers most of the front of the card. I used Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS to color.  I placed the ribbon at the top and a flower embelishment on the bottom.  The sentiment was stamped and cut out with a Nestie.

TMITA/PCC "Merry Wishes"

Time for another TMITA/PCC challenge.  This week Nilla has given us the challenge to use Nina's "Merry Wishes" digi and to use any shades of blue/green/white.  These colors are to be the main theme for your project.

This week I decided to make a gate fold card.  My base card is white with a design paper that has the three required colors in it.  The cute digi image was printed off and colored with Copic markers then cut out with a Labels 4 Nestie.  A larger Labels 4 Nestie was cut out of blue textured cs to frame the image.  A little bit of glitter was added to the balloon and the hat. 

A green embossed piece was added to the top panel of this card and the dp added to the bottom.  I wanted something that would cover the opening in the middle so punched a fence and added it so it barely covers that opening when it is closed.  The design was attached to the top panel of the card.  A few rhinestones were added to complete the front. 

The second picture shows the inside of the card.  A piece of the dp was put in the middle of the card.  Two more Labels 4 Nesties were cut out.  One was placed on the back of the blue one, which is on the front, because only half of that one showed when the card is open.  The second one was placed in the middle and a Birthday verse was added.  The gifts were stamped on the bottom panel to tie in with the birthday theme.

Thank You Goose

Do you have Canadian geese flying by?  They are so noisy but I always love to go out and watch them flying in perfect formation.  The new StampTV kit at Gina K Designs has this beautiful goose in the "Spring Mix" stamp set so I decided to try and make it look like the geese we are seeing every day. 

The background paper is from the Basic Grey "Green at Heart" paper pad.  The cs used is "Pure Luxury White" and "Wine  with Everything" from Gina K Designs.  The goose was stamped and colored with  colored pencils then cut out with Labels 9 Nesties.  The background was chalked.  A Martha Stewart punch was used to create the flowers.  Three flowers were punched and layered.  Small black brads were added then  black lines drawn out from the brad.   Ribbons from GKD was added along the bottom border.  The greeting is  also from the Spring Mix stamp set.  It was cut out with a round Nestie and sponged prior to taking it out of the die.  Each scallop was punched.

TMITA/PCC "Spring Challenge"

Things have been really busy for me and I haven't had time to do much stamping but it's time for a Spring Challenge over at TMITA/PCC.   This week you can use any acquired image from Nina's Paper Cupcakes store then  celebrate Spring with cards that have 3-D flowers and leaves; they can be Prima, die cut, hand cut, silk, etc.

The image I chose  is "Girl with Flower".  This is one of the new images recently added to Nina's Paper Cupcakes store.  The image was printed then cut out with  one of the Labels 4 Nestabilities.  A second image was printed so I could cut out the flower, with the hands, to attach over the design  with dimensional tape to give it some dimension.  The Sizzix flowers were cut out using two different shades of pink cs and layered with the lighter color on the inside of two darker shades.   They are held together using a yellow SU corduory brad.  A piece of Basic Grey  "Lemonade" dp was used for the background.  A narrow piece of Certainly Celery cs was embossed with the Cuttlebug swirls embossing folder.  A strip of pink ribbon was added to each side.  The flowers  were attached with large glue dots.  A Martha Stewart punch was used for the leaves.  Each one was sponged and placed under the flowers.   Some rhinestones were added to the right side of the card.

I have had a lot of you asking about my daughter.  She  is still having lots of pain but is slowly recovering  from her surgery. I'm sure  she is going to be feeling much better in a few days.  Thanks for all your concerns and prayers.

TMITA/PCC Eggs-traordinary Find

It is time for another TMITA/PCC Monday challenge.  This week  Sue Walsh has given us a very fun challenge to work on.  The Designers  are to use Nina's cute digi "Eggs-traordinary Find" and incorporate it with a paper or altered Easter basket.  When you go over to the TMITA/PCC blog, she has listed a lot of sources for cute Easter Baskets.  You will also find this free digi you can use in this challenge or you can go to Nina's Paper Cupcakes store and purchase an image of your choice. 

In my "stash" of patterns, I had a template for a cute little box I decided to turn into a basket.  A scallop punch was used to create a border along the top edge.  I used two sided dp.  A Martha Stewart punch was used for the handle.  It was attached with glue dots on each side.  The greeting is from GKD.  It was stamped and cut out with Nesties.  Two rhinestone flowers were placed next to the greeting.  Narrow rick rack was attached under the scallops with Scor-Tape. 

The cute designed was printed off and colored with Copic markers.  Flower Soft from Joan's Gardens was glued to the head and tail.  I cut along the design but left a long piece of the card stock under the design so it would "stand" inside the basket.  Pink and purple crinkle "grass" was added on both sides to hold the design up.  Small chocolate Easter eggs were then added. 

On the sides of the basket, a  MS punched flower and butterfly were added.  Rinestones were added to each.

TMITA/PCC Sunny Stroll

It's  time for another TMITA/PCC Monday Challenge.  This week Olga Jewell is the hostess and asks us to use "any acquired Paper Cupcake's image" and 1,2,3 Create! What does that mean? Well, she wants you to use the following on your project:  

1 Paper Cupcake image (your choice)

2 ribbons
3 buttons

The name of my image from Nina's Paper Cupcake store is called "Sunny Stroll".   It was colored wih Copic markers and cut out with Nestabilities.  The background paper is from a Martha Stewart Paper Pack.  Two ribbons were layered across the middle.  The green panel was embossed with the Cuttlebug.  The verse is from Gina K Designs.  It was stamped and cut out with Nesties.  The scallops in both layers were punched  To complete the challenge three buttons were added.

Hinged Card for the TMITA/PCC Challenge

It's time for another Magical Monday TMITA/PCC Challenge.  Kim McDonald is our design team hostess this week and she has challenged us to make a non-traditional style card e.g., free standing pop up, joy fold, tri-shutter, etc.  The image  from Nina May is called "Bunny cupcake" .  Be sure to check out all the different type cards made by the other designers  this week and check out the  cute free  images for the give away on the TMITA/PCC blog.

As you know, I do like to make non-traditional style cards so I wanted to come up with  new non-traditional card I have not posted in the past.  I have never made a "hinged card" so that is what I am going to show you this week.  My card is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.  The c s pieces cut are: 

Lavender Lace 4.25 x 5.5 inches for the back of the card

Green Galore 4.25 x 3 inches for the top portion which is on hinge

Lavender Lace  4.25 x 3.75 inches for the bottom

The image was printed off then cut out with a 1.75" Nestability square
The Nestie scallop was cut out of Lavender Lace.  The image was colored with Copic markers.   Glitter was added to the cupcake. 

To decorate the front of the card I embossed both the green cs and the dp on the lower section with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  A Martha Stewart punch was used for the fence border.  The fence was layered on the lavender cs then topped with the embossed design paper.  A flower and bow were added to complete the card.  The two front pieces were placed over the back piece  then a brad added for the hinge.  Only the lower portion of the card was attached to the back.  The adhesive was added below the brad across the top; down the sides and along the bottom.  You need the top portion of this piece open so the top can slide  behind it to close.

The bunny image was attched after the card was complete. Dimensional tape was added on the middle and top portion of the  back of the image.  The tape should be even with the bottom portion of the card so the card closes in the right position.  I then stamped the verse  (GKD) on the inside.

Pot of Gold Challenge at TMITA/PCC

It's Magical Monday.  This week  design team member Danielle Lord has given us a color challenge.   We are to use Nina's cute "Pot of Gold" digi
and use the colors "green & gold" (on the products outside the image) with the added bonus of using metal somewhere on the card/creation (eg. brad, charm etc.).

Nina just had a birthday last Friday and I want to wish her a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY. 

I made a shadow box card this week.  There is a piece of shamrock dp on the inside panel.  The image was printed off and colored with Copic markers then cut out with a round Nestability. The top of the card is Garden Green cs.  The same size Nestie was used to cut a circle  for the opening.  Another piece of gold metallic cs was cut with a slightly smaller circle Nestie and attached to the inside.  A piece of the same dp was cut for the lower portion of the front and attached with gold brads.  The verse was stamped and cut out with a window punch.  Gold stickers were added above and below the verse.  Gold Cuttlebug corners were added and three brads along each side.

Saturday Chat

It is time for another TMITA/PCC challenge.  This week designer Patti Nelson has given us a sketch challenge.  We can use our choice of any Nina May digital image.  The image I chose is called "Saturday Chat".  Here is the sketch we are to use

The wine card stock was embossed with the Sizzix Final Press embossing folder.  For my vertical strip I decided to sew the designer paper to the turquoise card stock.  Four punched flowers were stacked together with a button added in the middle and some Martha Stewart fern leaves placed under it.  The verse was stamped and cut out with a deckle Nestability rectangle and sponged before removing it. 

The Staurday Chat image was printed  onto white cs then colored with Copic markers.  The sky and grass were sponged on before removing them from the Oval Nestability die.  The Nestability scalloped oval was pierced in each scallop then attached with dimensional tape.

We have a new Guest Designer this month and I want to welcome Pat Pedder.

Lucky Bear

It is time for a new challenge.  Isn't this little bear cute. This is the FREE digital image from Nina May this week at TMITA/PCC.   He looks like he has arrived to bring someone good luck.  I had so much fun working on this card.  Nilla Berglie is our design team hostess this week and she wanted to see some distressing on our cards.  Here are the instructions she gave us:  "Use any technique for distressing, roughing up your paper with your scissors, distressing with inks, sanding, scraping, pounding (hehe - do this method if your are mad at someone with your meat tenderizer ;o) ~ any technique you would consider a method to distress! " 

The image was printed off then colored with Copic markers.  I sponged on clouds behind the bear but they do not show up very well in the photo.  It was backed with dark green card stock.  The design paper behind the image was also backed with the same green cs.  I used a distressing tool to rough up the edges of both green pieces of cs.  This is such a cool look and I seldom think of doing it.  My card is 5"x7".  The background piece is a lighter green textured card stock.  A strip of designer paper with shamrocks was added vertically to match the shamrock balloon.  A gingham ribbon was tied along the edge of that paper.  One of the things I seem to have a hard time using is buttons.  However when I looked at my finished card it just needed something else and I immediately thought "buttons" because they seemed to go with the dp.  I then added a little green bow at the top to balance it out.

Spring Time Friends

It's time for another There's Magic In The Air with Paper Cupcakes Challenge.   Designers were allowed to choose a digi from Nina's store to work with this week, so you will see many different designs on our cards.  I am the Design Team Host this week and my challenge is to use "Lace and Circles" on your card.  You can use either paper punched or real lace, plus either the main image and/or greeting must be  in a circle.

The digi image I chose  is called "Spring Time Friends".  Isn't it cute.  I printed off the design then cut it out with a circle Nestie. The design was colored using Copic markers.   Both the peach and blue card stock are textured. The blue piece was embossed with a Cuttlebug border embossing folder.  The top piece of dp is from the Whimsy Matstack by DCWV.   A Martha Stewart punch was used for the peach lace trim and  the lacy heart.  I sponged around the edges of the heart with peach ink, then cut out a smaller peach heart with scissors to attach to the back of it so the design would show up well.   The greeting was stamped, punched, then sponged and put in the SU hardware.  To complete the card,  peach colored pearls were added as well has a Cuttlebug flourish.

Flight of the Fuschia

Did you have a big Super Bowl Party?  We had one but I'm not that interested in the game but some of the commercials are pretty funny.  It is time for a new TMITA/PCC challenge. This week we are working with this beautiful digital image from Nina May called "Flight of the Fuschia".  Patti J Gilliam is the design team hostess this week and she has asked us to make a "comforting" (thinking of you, get well, sympathy, etc.)  card using flourishes and/or pearls. 

I'm not sure this shows up well in the picture, but I embossed the white cs with Sizzix Final Press embossing folder then cut a frame out of the middle of it with a rectangle Nestability -- so this is an open frame rather than a layered frame.  There are flourishes in this embossed design.   I then cut a smaller frame out of a piece of black cs and mounted this on a piece of Sahara Sand cs.  "Thinking of you" was black embossed on the bottom of the frame.  The bird and fuschia were printed off then colored with Copic markers and cut out.  The design was mounted with dimensional tape.  Some leaves were punched out of the Sahara Sand cs and put in the corner.  Black pearls were added to complete the card.

I Heart You Valentine Gift Tag with Stitching

This week the challenge on  the "TMITA/PCC blog is hosted by Sue Walsh.  She has asked us to use this cute digital bear image by Nina May to make a Valentine gift tag with some stitching somewhere on it.  I have made lots of valentines with red and white so decided to use pink and white for this one.  The cute bear was printed off and then colored with Copic markers.  He wants to say he "loves you" to someone special so love was printed in the center and a small rhinestone flower added. I cut out a white tag and then cut another pink one just a little larger for the layered look.  A piece of dp was cut then stitched to the tag.  I created a flower with two pieces of silk flowers and a punched center using pink cs and  a SU punch.  Small "button" brads were added to the corners and the center of the flower.  Leaves created with  a MS punch were added around the flower.  Two shades of pink cs were used to punch the butterfly then it was embossed with the Cuttlebug dotted Swiss embossing folder.  To complete the tag I added some dotted Swiss ribbon to the top.  This is going to be a cute little tag to put with a Valentine treat for a sweet little girl.

Think Love Challenge at TMITA/PCC

This is my cute gift card created with another one of Nina May's digi images.

I hope you all had a great weekend.  It seems like this month is going by so fast!    It is time for another TMITA/PCC Challenge.  I have been so excited to post my project this week for the challenge.  I made a box plus a gift card to match.  The cute digital image on my box,  from Nina May,  is called "Think Love".  Kim McDonald is the host designer this week and our challenge is to use the "Think Love" image on a treat box/bag/holder of some kind.  I decided to create a box.

My box is created using Kraft card stock and was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The Think Love digi was printed off and colored with Copic markers.  I cut the shape out to fit the font of the box then used a  black marker to add the scribble design on the edges.  Some Martha Stewart leaves were punched and glued in the corner to resemble a tree.  Hope it looks that way to you.  Red lace hearts were punched with a Martha Stewart punch and added to the sides of the box. 

The verse is from a stamp set by Nina Brackett called "Heartily Yours Additions".  This is one of the new stamp sets just released from Gina K Designs.  I created a tag with the verse and attached it to the top of the box with a red brad, which holds the top closed.  A red bow and red heart rhinestones were added to complete the box.

In Nina May's "Paper Cupcakes" store she has another image called "Friends in All Sizes" that I felt was perfect to create a little gift card to go with this gift box. This card is 3.5 inches square.   This is going to be the perfect gift box and card for a  little gift for someone special.

Golf Outing

Isn't this the cutest card.  Nina May now has her Paper Cupcakes store open and this is one of the digi images available. My husband is a big golfer so I just had to design a card with this cute image.   Here is the link.  On her home page, under "page navigation", Nina  has a link to sketches  and I thought this one would be perfect for this card. 

The background paper is from Basic Grey.  The other cardstocks are all textured.  I embossed both the turquoise and yellow cs with Cuttlebug embossing folders.  The image was printed off and colored with Copic markers then cut out with Nestabilities.  A ribbon, star buttons, and a punched butterfly were added to complete the card.

Tons of Love

Hope you had a great weekend.  It is time again for another TMITA/PCC Challenge.  This cute image is Nina May's "Tons of Love".   Olga Jewell has challenged us to use this cute image and use  red ribbon, buttons, and glitter or something that sparkles!  I hope you will go over to the TMITA/PCC blog and pick up this free digi image and join in on the challenge.  You will have a chance to win one of Nina's  cute cupcake digi images when you participate. All the details are on the TMITA/PCC blog.

My background was embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile Texture embossing folder.  My card is 5.25 inches square so I had to emboss half the card then do the other half.  This is a pretty easy technique to do if you want to make a card larger than the embossing folder.  The image was printed off then colored with Copic markers.  She was cut out with oval Nestabilities.  Some Sizzix hearts were cut out and glitter added.  This cute elephant is trying to show you how much she loves you!   To keep with the challenge, I added some red ribbon across  the top and two red heart buttons on each end.  The verse is from Gina K Designs.  I used markers to color it so I could make the heart red.  Glitter was added to this heart too.

I want to be sure and tell you that Nina has just added a lot of new digi images to her store "Paper Cupcakes".  When you go to the store, you can click on "New Arrivals" to see the new images just added.  I have a few of these new images and have had fun today working with them.  I will post one of the cards later this week.  It is such a fun card.

Miss Kitty Pop-Up Card

It's time again for another Paper Cupcakes challenge.  This cute Nina May "Miss Kitty" image is FREE this week on the TMITA/PCC blog challenge.  I have been very anxious to post this card.  I love the way it turned out.  I have to admit I was having a problem deciding what type of card to make with this cute image.  It just looks like she is wanting to wish you a big "Happy Valentine's Day" so had to give her lots of dimension.  I decided to make this "Free Standing Pop-Up Card which fits into an A-2 size envelope.  It is a very easy style card to make.  The base of the card is made with a piece of red cs that measures 4.25 x 11 inches.  It was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder.  The tag measures 2.75 x 5.25 inches.  I gave the card a little extra dimension by adding pop-up hearts on the base. 

The digital image was printed then colored with Copic markers.  The white dots were added with an Inkssential's White Opaque Pen.  Some small punched flowers were added to the waist of her skirt.  The background was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder then cut out with a Nestie.  It was matted onto a piece of red cs.  A red scalloped heart was cut out with Nesties then embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  Miss Kitty was attached with dimensionals.  When making this type of card you want the tag to stay up so I added a border under her feet that was attached with dimensional tape.  This created a little "ledge" so it would catch and keep the card open. 

The challenge this week was to use strips someplace on the card.  I decided to add my strips to the front panel of the card then attach the verse, which is from Gina K Designs.  A ribbon (from GKD) was added to the top of the base then additional ribbon added on the top.

Painted Pony

Have you ever had an idea on how you wanted to make a card and it turned out completly different?  Well, that is what happened to me with this one.  Since this was a color challenge I was trying to make this pony very colorful using the color challenge inks but was never satisfied with my painting.  I decided to change gears and just color him with the Dusty Durango ink and highlight certain areas with Suede.  He is not all that colorful, but he is cute.  I used reinkers and a water brush to paint the pony.

I found this cute dp in my stash that was close to dusty durango and crushed curry so decided to use it and mount it on a piece of suede cs.  I still needed to use  always artichoke so cut a long strip of always artichoke cs and used scissors to cut blades of grass for the pony to stand in.   I love the swirls in the dp and thought it would be cute to have the pony playing with some butterflies.  Silly huh, but looks like the pony is having lots of fun!  Since I had butterflies, I had to add some punched flowers.  The butterflies and flowers are punched out of crushed curry cs.
