Winter Wonderland

This week the challenge at Joan's Gardens is to create a Christmas card with the following requirements:
  • Christmas pattern Paper for background
  • Warn and Cozy Colors
  • Snow Flakes
  • Christmas Trees or Santa or anything reflecting Christmas
The design paper I used for my card is from the MME "Vintage Christmas" 6x6 Pad.  The pretty winter scene is a stamp from the Heartfelt Creations "Winter Season PreCut Set".  It was stamped with black VersaMark ink and clear embossed on a piece of sparkly white card stock.  The beauty of the sparkles does not show up in this photo.  The image was colored then Ranger Distress Stickles added for additional shine.  The image and background were die cut using Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities.     This image was attached with dimensional tape.

In front of the Winter Scene, I added a die cut tree from Marianne Design.  The pine branch at the top was die cut using a Impression Obsession die.  On the branch I added one of the Heartfelt Creations "Petite Poinsettia" flowers.  It was die cut using the matching dies. The sentiment is from the Heartfelt Creations "Winter Season PreCut Set".  It was white embossed then die cut using the Spellbinders "Labels One" die.  The snowflake by the sentiment is from the Marianne Design, COL 1330, die set.   To add snow effects on this card, I used Tulip Puffy paint.  It was heat set and glitter added.

I hope you will join in on this challenge.  It is so nice to get a head start on all your Christmas cards.

Well I am off for a short vacation with my husband and son up to Canada.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Tri Fold Card

I apologize for being so late in posting this fun card.  I created it this morning, but had an early appointment and didn't have time to post it and had to be gone most of the day.   Joan, at Joan's Gardens, has posted some of these cute stamp sets from Art Impressions, that create a tri-fold card.  There is not much to tell you about the card because you stamp the designs, following the very easy and clear instructions that come with the stamps.  I stamped on watercolor paper and painted with Distress Inks.

You stamp the main image, which was the cabin in this set, on what will be the inside of the card.  Next you turn the card over and stamp the other two images on the side panels.  The instructions give you measurements on how far to stamp down.  I really thought this was going to be hard, but it was so easy.  Next you color your design then cut out the portion above the design, from each side.

I used the "Lakehouse" stamp set.  There is a verse in this set that I stamped on the inside.  I used the Martha Stewart "Double Loops" punch set to create a frame, but you don't need to do that.  You will have an A2 size card if you use it as directed.

There are some really cute animal/bird sets you can use to further embellish these cards.  I didn't have these sets, but wouldn't some of the little "critters" below look really cute on this card.  Be sure to go over to Joan's Gardens and see all the different Art Impressions  "Try'folds" sets you can be creative with.

Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge

We have a fun a very fun challenge for you this week.  Joan has a new line of stamps from Art Impressions we call "Oldies but Goodies" and we have each created a card with one of these stamps.  Please go over to Joan's Gardens to see Joan's super cute card and all the challenge rules.

The stamp I used is Art Impressions "Golden Oldies".  The images were colored with Distress Markers and the Ranger "Water Brush Detailer".  The top of the images were cut out with scissors.  I wanted to create a lace table cloth on the table they are sitting at so I used a portion of the Cheery Lynn "Polynesian Sails Oval" to create a round table cloth.  For the background I used the Sizzix "Beaded Ribbons" embossing folder.  I embossed half the background, then lined it up on the other side to emboss the entire front.  My card is 5.5" x 6" which is larger than the embossing folder.

In the upper corners I added a Cheery Lynn "Lace Corner Deco J" corner and on top of the corners I included a flower created with the die that come in the center of the Cheery Lynn "Monon's Wedding Garland" die set.  Pieces of the "Monon's Wedding Garland" were added for corners on the bottom and in the center, between the flowers.  The sentiment is from the JustRite "Your Special Day Medallion Labels" stamp set.  It was die cut using one of the Spellbinders "Petite Scallop Circle" dies.  I used my Tim Holtz Paper Piercer to punch holes in each scallop.  To complete my card, I added a few Kaiser Craft rhinestones.

Be sure to go over to Joan's Gardens to see all the challenge rules and to see what the prize is this week.  I hope you will join us in our challenge this week - we love to see your cards.
