Deer in Winter

We have had days and days of snow!  Today I decided to create a winter card.

This is a 6x6 inch square card.

On a piece of white card stock and Susan's Earth & Sky Stencil to create clouds, use a sponge and light blue PanPastels to create the clouds using the cloud stencil.

Use Iced Spruce Distress Ink to lightly add an evergreen border in approximately the middle of the card.  This will give depth to the scene.

Use the Reindeer die set and die cut three large birch trees and one small birch tree using white card stock.  Also die cut two pine trees and two deer, using white card stock.  Color the pine trees and lightly sponge on Iced Spruce Distress Ink.  Use a white gel pen to add details to the pine trees.  Use a gray marker to color in knots on birch trees.  Lightly sponge Iced Spruce Distress Ink around the edges of the birch trees.

Use the Reindeer die set and die cut 3 snow banks edges, each a different depth so they can be layered on the lower half of the card.

Use the Adventure Edges die set and die cut one very narrow snow bank to be place on the very bottom.

Attach the snow banks, except the Adventure Edges snow bank, by only attaching along the bottom edge and the sides.  Trees will be tucked in between the snow banks.

Use the Reindeer die set and die cut two deer.  Cut the antlers off one reindeer.  Use PanPastels to color the reindeer.

Glue on the two birch trees that are closest to the center (one large and one small) tucking the base of the tree in the snow banks.  A portion of the trees will be above edge of card, that should be clipped off.  Glue the two pine trees down, as shown.  Cut the left side off the pine tree on the left.  Attach the two larger birch trees on the outside edges, as shown, using dimensional tape; this gives the scene depth.  Using glue, attach the female deer by tucking behind edge of pine tree.  Attach the male deer using dimensional tape.  Glue down the hooves of the deer.

Glue down the Adventure Edges snow bank along the very bottom of the card, covering the bottom of the two large birch trees.

Hope this card gives you another idea for using the Reindeer die set, that we usually think of using only at Christmas time.  This card will be perfect for a masculine birthday card or even a pretty Thank You card.

This winter has been so mild here and the snow has been absent. All together there might have been 1" of snow that came in several dustings. The grass is growing and trees are beginning to bud and daffodils are in bloom! Spring has sprung!

I got so carried away about our winter that I forgot to comment on your card. I love it. Lovely snow scene and I do love the deer!
