Faith

Today I have designed a card using another one of the new A Way With Words sentiments plus two new dies in the Els van de Burgt Studio Collection.  These new dies will be available in January.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  The A Way With Words - Faith sentiment was die cut and sponged with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  Two ovals were die cut using Els van de Burgt Stitched Oval die set.   The green leaves were die cut using the Leafy Branch die.  The flower was die cut using Susan's Garden Notes Lily dies.  On the corners of the design paper I added four of the smaller Corners 1 dies.  There are four different corner dies in this set and each style has a large and small corner.    The corners were sponged with Tea Dye Ink.

Happy Birthday

It is hard to believe 2015 is almost over.  The end of the year always means I am a year older!  I love the new A Way With Words sentiments and decided to create a birthday card with one of the new sets.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  I used the Damask Embossing Folder to create embossing on the left side of the card. The edges of the card were sponged using Tea Dye Distress Ink.    Along the inside edge of the embossing I added two of Els van de Burgt Studio Chains from the Chains 1 die set that will be released soon.

The A Way With Words "happy  birthday" was die cut using white card stock and sponged with two shades of ink, before attaching them to the card.

Susan's Garden Note Poppies were created using different shades of card stock and attached over the embossed side of the card.  To finish the card, a green twine bow was added.

The new products I used will be out in a few weeks at Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Let Us Be Grateful

ECD-SGDT-Dec-2015

I want to wish all my Blogging Friends a very Merry Christmas.  This is the card I designed for my Design Team Post For Susan's Garden on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog.  I have loved creating most of my Christmas cards with Susan's Garden Notes Poinsettia and Whitpine Bough & Pine Cone dies. For the background, I used Oval dies from the new Elizabeth Craft Designs release.

Here are instructions for creating this card:

Use a 6"x6" card base.  Add a slightly smaller piece of design paper of your choice to the front.

Garden Notes - Poinsettia (1090) 6 piece set

Die cut Susan's Garden Notes Poinsettia three times to create a full poinsettia.  Glue the three large die cuts together, alternating petals.  Add as many of the smaller petals as you want to create fullness.  Add Bracts to the center of the flower.  There is a die for the Bracts, but I used Prills.

Die cut Stitched Ovals in both white and green card stock.
Seeds of Thought Red Rubber Stamp - Let Us Be Grateful (RS005)
Use Susan's "Let Us Be Grateful" rubber stamp for the sentiment.  Use a black marker to color only the first sentence on this stamp.  Use black ink to stamp it on the smallest white oval circle.

Die cut Fitted Frames 4 Curvy Ovals using green card stock.

Layer ovals as shown, using dimensional tape on back of second largest white oval.

Layer Susan's Garden Notes Whitepine Boughs on lower left corner of oval frame.

Add die cuts of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Berry Branches, using brown card stock.  Use  Viva Red Pearl Pen to create the red berries.

Add the poinsettia you created with a dimensional glue dot.

Create two pine cones created with Susan's Garden Notes Whitepine Bough & Pine Cone dies.  Add them to the right of the poinsettia.

Use the Fitted Frames 1, Lace Rectangles dies to die cut the four white corners, to frame the card.
It has been a lot of fun creating Christmas cards with Susan's dies.

Love You

Today I have another card that includes some of the new dies that will be released soon at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I combined two of the new A Way With Words die sets -- Love and Thank You 2.  Only the "you" die cut was used from the Thank You 2 set.  The words were die cut three times, and stacked/glued together, to give them dimension.

On the left side of the card I used the Paris Edges die cut and lined the left edge of it with one of the new Els van de Burgt Studio, Ribbons 1, die cuts.  Susan's Garden Rose 1 and Garden Notes Rose 2 dies were used to create the flowers.  Under the flowers are two of the ECD Leaf & Berry Branch die cuts.  White flat backed pearls were added to the berries. Two of the new Els van de Burgt Studio, Corners 1, were added to complete this card.

It's A Party Invitation

Have you been over to Elizabeth Craft Designs to see the new products that are coming soon?  Here is a card I designed using the new Joset Designs Cupcakes dies along with the new A Way With Words "It's A Party" dies.

This is a 6"x6" card.  I used Els van de Burgt Studio new Stitched Squares for the top panel, then used the Stitched Circles to cut an opening in the top part of this panel.  To give some dimension to the white card stock, the Lots of Dots embossing folder was used to create dots down the center.  One of the new Fitted Frames 5, Lace Circles dies (blue) was used to frame the die cut circle.  The white panel was attached to a blue panel with dimensional tape.  The die cut Lace Circle frame was glued around the opening.  The Fitted Frames 5 dies match the Stitched circle opening.  The Stitched Circle die cut was sponged around the edges, and attached down in the die cut opening.  On the lower right side of the die cut frame, I added one of the "flower" die cuts from the Fitted Frames 5 - Lace Circles set.  The heart was die cut from the Cupcakes die set.  The Stars around the frame were die cut from Joset's Hot Air Balloons die set.

The A Way With Words, It's A Party was die cut three times -- once in white, once in black and once in blue.  The black die cuts were off-set behind the white and blue die cuts to give the words depth.  Joset's Banners dies were used along the side of the card.  The die cut words were attached.

I love this cupcake from Joset's new collection.  There are many options for decorating your cupcakes with this set.  I chose  to create a chocolate cupcake.  The bow was die cut twice, to give it dimension.  The candles were die cut from the Cupcakes set.

Here is a list of the new products that will soon be available from Elizabeth Craft Designs:

Today I have designed a card using new dies from the Els van de Burgt Studio Collection, Joset Designs, and A Way With Words.

The frame for the scene was created by layering Els new Stitched Rectangles; it was attached with dimensional tape.  The Hot Air Balloon, from Joset Designs, was die cut using Shimmer Sheetz, and attached with dimensional glue dots. The Clouds are dies from Joset's Rainbow Sky set.   The tree border from Karen Burniston's Outdoor Edges, is not new.  Two tree borders were die cut and attached inside the frame.  Flying birds were drawn in with a black marker.

The framed picture was added to the top of the card, and the beautiful A Way With Words "Dream" die cut, was added under the design.

Elizabeth Craft Designs is excited to add fourteen new "A Way With Words" die sets.

I die cut all the new A Way With Words die sets and placed them on a poster board so you can see all of them.  Aren't they beautiful.

Gold Poinsettia Box

I am still creating boxes for Christmas gifts.  I know there is no such thing as gold glitter poinsettias, but they look very festive on this small box.  I used Susan's Garden Notes Poinsettia, CountryScapes Backyard 4, and Whitepine Bough & Pine Cone dies.  The poinsettia petals were die cut using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the top of white card stock.  The covering was pulled off and Silk Microfine Desert Gold Glitter rubbed in. There are tiny gold poinsettias created with the poinsettia dies in the CountryScapes Backyard 4 die set.   The gold poinsettias look beautiful on this box!

Elizabeth Craft Designs has a big release coming out soon.  I have been busy working with all the new dies, plus getting ready for Christmas.  My family is arriving Friday for the holidays.

Merry Christmas Pop-up Tree

Karen Burniston has such a fabulous line of pop-up dies, available at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  It is always fun to receive a card with a pop-up feature, but I believe it is even more fun to create one.  Karen makes it so easy with her pop-up dies!  You can watch Karen's videos at this YouTube LINK to learn easy assembly for any of her pop-up dies.

Christmas Trees Pop Stand (1037)

Today, I worked with her Christmas Tree Pop Stand.  On the front of my A-2 size card, I embossed the front panel with the Lots of Dots Embossing Folder.  I used one of the extra trees from the Pop-up dies for the front of the card.  I used Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape, attached to green card stock, to die cut the pieces, so I could add Forest Green Silk Microfine Glitter on the die cut tree pieces.  After cutting out the tree pieces, I had extra green card stock with the adhesive on it, so I tried something new.  I die cut the Christmas Tree garland, which I wanted red,  out of the green card stock.  I peeled off the adhesive and sprinkled on True Red Silk Microfine Glitter.  It covered the green and looked beautiful.  I was afraid I would have to die cut the garland using white card stock, so it is nice to know that you can use up any color card stock and the colored Silk Microfine Glitters will cover and look beautiful.

I die cut the A Way With Words - Merry Christmas using white card stock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the top.  The True Red Silk Microfine Glitter was sprinkled on.  Around the edges of the card front, I add ECD line stickers.  Also the bells and gold star are also ECD Peel Off Stickers.

When you close the card, it folds flat, so it is very easy to mail.  However, when you open the card, this beautiful 3-D tree pops up.  I followed Karen's instructions on YouTube for assembly.  Like I said earlier, I die cut the tree with Clear Double Sided Adhesive tape on both sides of the green card stock so I could add glitter, and the tree would sparkle.  It was decorated with a variety of Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel Off Stickers.  At both ends of the card, on the inside, I added Karen's Paris Edges die cut so it would be easy to write a personal greeting on the bottom end.

I had so much fun creating this card.  I will be creating more and will have fun decorating the tree in different ways.

Here is a close up picture so you can see the dimension of the tree.

Believe Purple Poinsettias

Poinsettias do not come in purple, but they look so pretty with the black  A Way With Words - Believe die cut sentiment and Circles die cut background.

This is a 6"x6" card.  There are three white layers, each one slightly smaller than the one below it, that were attached with dimensional tape.  The Garden Notes Poinsettias were die cut using white card stock and the petals were sponged with Dusty Concord Distress Ink.  The Garden Notes Whitepine Boughs were die cut using dark green card stock.  The poinsettias were shaped using Susan's Flower Tool Kit.

The Elizabeth Craft Designs Circles die cut makes a very pretty background for the poinsettias.  It was die cut using black card stock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back, then attached to the top of the card.  The poinsettias were attached with dimensional glue dots and the pine boughs glued below the flowers.

The Quietfire - A Way With Words - Believe was die cut using black card stock that had a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back.  I especially love using the double sided adhesive tape when die cutting intricate designs, such as the A Way With Words die cuts, because it is so easy to attach them solidly  to the card.

Two More Ornament Tags

As promised yesterday, I have the other two tags I created using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Ornament Set 5.

The tags were die cut using the Soft Finish Cardstock.  The front of this tag was embossed with the Sprig Embossing Folder.  I sponged the edges and Sprigs with Bundled Sage Distress Ink.  The solid part of this ornament was die cut using white card stock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape attached to the front side.  The adhesive cover was removed, and I covered it with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.  The top part of the ornament was die cut using Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheetz that had the Double Sided Adhesive Tape attached to the back of the Shimmer Sheetz. I used the Metal Adapter Sheet for a better cut.   Before attaching the decorative portion of the ornament, I colored the Holly and Berries with Copic Markers. Did you know you can color Shimmer  Sheetz?  I added color twice to achieve a dark color.  I love how it turned out.  Once colored, I pulled out the extra die cut  pieces around the holly/berries, and attached it to the glittered background.

To match the embossed Sprigs, I die cut Garden Notes Whitepine Bough and attached at the top of the tag for dimension.  A gold cord was attached to the hanger of the ornament, and was glued under the pine bough.  I die cut the bow from the Ornament Set 3 set, using Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheetz that also had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.  Both the corners and the design for the top hanger on the tag were die cut using Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheetz.  I know in the photo that the corners look silver, but they are really gold.  The three little pieces, at the bottom of the tag, are discards from other die cut pieces.  Gold Cording was added at the top of the card.

This is the same die cut ornament, but love how different it looks.  The ornament was die cut using Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheetz with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back.   I did not use the Metal Adapter Plate, so it didn't cut all the way through.  I didn't want to pull out the extra pieces around the holly/berries, because I wanted a gold ornament. The holly and berries were colored with Copic markers. The adhesive cover was pulled off and the gold ornament was attached to the solid die cut ornament from this set, for stability. A gold cord was added to the hanger.

The Tags & More 1 tag was die cut using Soft Finish Cardstock and the lower portion embossed with the Lots of Dots Embossing Folder.  The red bow (Four Bows die set) was die cut using white card stock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front.  True Red Silk Microfine Glitter was added to the adhesive. The bow was attached over the gold cord with a glue dot.

At the bottom of the card I added the Holly Border that was die cut using Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheetz.  The Holly was detailed using Susan's Flower Tool Kit, then colored the same as the holly/berries in the ornament.  At the top of the card I added one of the pieces from the tag set for the gold cording to go through.  Christmas Gold Peel Off Stickers were added.

I am very happy with the four totally different tags created with the Ornament Set 5 and Tags & More 1 - Lace die sets.

Christmas Tags

A lot of us have started purchasing Christmas gifts.  Now it is time to make tags.  Today I used the Elizabeth Craft Designs Ornament  Set 5 and the Tags & More 1 - Lace dies to create two very different tags. I will explain how I created each tag below.

Tags & More 1 – Lace (951)

Ornament Set 5 (1066)
Above are the two die set used.

For the detailed ornament design,  both tags were die cut using Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheets.  They were die cut with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.  The back ornament, for this purple one, was die cut using Purple Iris Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz.  The Gold design was attached over the Shimmer Sheetz.  I used Elizabeth Craft Purple Peel Off Dots in the circles of the die cut.  For the background on this tag, I embossed a piece of white card stock with the Heart Strings Embossing Folder and cut it to fit the tag.  At the top and bottom of the embossed piece, I added a strip of the Purple Iris Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz.  At the top of the tag, die cut Garden Notes Whitepine Bough were attached.  A gold cord was strung through the ornament loop and attached at the top of the pine bough.  A gold cord bow was attached with glue dots then a Star Peel Off Sticker was added just above the bow.  Gold Cording was also added at the top of the tag.  Merry Christmas Peel Of f Stickers were added at the bottom.

Now for a totally different look using the same dies.

I used the same Tags & More 1 dies to create this tag.  The bottom of the tag was embossed using the Snowflake Embossing Folder. The edges of the tag were sponged with Tea Dye Distress Ink. The ornament was created by die cutting the intricate design using Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheets with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.  You need to use the Metal Adapter plate to achieve a good cut.  The back of the ornament was die cut using white card stock that had the Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front, so I could add Copper Silk Microfine Glitter.  The gold die cut was attached over the glitter.  A gold cord was attached to the top of the ornament so it could hang from the Garden Notes Whitepine Bough.  A speckled poinsettia was created with Garden Notes Poinsettia dies.  I used GooseBumps spray to achieve the speckles on the petals and sponged on Tea Dye Distress Ink.  To complete this tag, I added a Gold Holly Peel Off  Sticker Border and Merry Christmas Stickers.

I have created two totally different tags using the other Ornament Set 5 die.  I will post it tomorrow.

Seasons Greetings

Today I have used two Elizabeth Craft Designs die sets I have not used before -- the Ornament Set 3 and the Four Bows dies.  Both the ornament and the bow have two die cut pieces.

Four Bows (798)
This is a picture of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Four Bows dies.  There are so many things you can create with this great die set.

The solid bottom die cu,t for both the bow and the ornament, were die cut using Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double sided Adhesive Tape on the back.  When the adhesive covering was pulled off, I added Cool  Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.  The two pieces were die cut using Silver Metallic Shimmer Sheetz.  I really like the look of the Diamond Glitter under the Silver die cut.   The ornament was glued to the card front.  Pieces of the Susan's Garden Notes Whitepine Bough were attached above the ornament, along with silver cording.   The Bow was attached with dimensional tape.

Susan's Garden Note Holiday Holly & Berry dies were used for the holly.  The beautiful "A Way With Words" Season's Greeting sentiment was die cut using Silver Glitter Cardstock.  Before die cutting, I attached a piece of Clear Double sided Adhesive Tape to the back so it would be easy to attach to the card.

The silver dots at the bottom of the card are "discards" from the die cut Bow - they were glued in the triangle design of the design paper.  Silver Peel-Off Sticker Corners were added to the top of the card.

The following products can be purchased from Elizabeth Craft Designs:

Believe

I love how easy it is to create so many totally different Christmas cards using Susan's Garden Notes Poinsettia and Garden Notes Whitepine Bough & Pine Cone dies. This is a 6"x6" card.  I started by adding a piece of design paper to the front.  Today I used Susan's Pan Pastels to shade her Garden Notes Poinsettia petals.  The petals were die cut using red card stock, and shaped with Susan's Flower Tools.   After the petals were shaped,  I sponged on the Extra Dark Red PanPastel around the edges of the petals.  Next I sponged on Orange Shade PanPastel down the center vein of each petal.  Adding the PanPastels created dimension on the petals.

A strip of dark green card stock was cut a little wider than the A Way With Words - Believe die cut to help it show up well.  Both the Believe die cut and a piece of card stock under the green strip were cut using gold sparkle card stock.   The edges of the green strip were distressed before gluing to the gold card stock.

The poinsettia was attached with a dimensional glue dot.  Under the flower I added the Elizabeth Craft Designs Flourishes, also cut from gold sparkle card stock, and some of Susan's Garden Notes Whitepine Bough.  On the upper corners, I added ECD Gold Corner Peel-off Stickers.

Polar Bear Merry Christmas

Susan's CountryScapes - Critters 4 - Bear die is perfect to create either a masculine or a children's Christmas card.

I created a  stair-step card to show case this beautiful polar bear.  A piece of polka dot Navy blue design paper was attached to the center pane,l then Elizabeth Craft Designs Line Peel-off stickers framed it.  Several layers of snow banks were cut and glued together at the bottom of the card.  The Bear was die cut using Pearlized white card stock.  The nose, ear, eye and toenails were drawn in with a fine line black marker, then gray ink sponged around the outline of the bear.  He was attached with dimensional tape so he is walking up the snow bank.

This picture shows the finished card when opened all the way up.  The card stock was cut 12" long by 6" wide. I used a die cut star from Karen Burniston's Christmas Trees Pop Stand and Snowflakes from her Spiral Circle Pull Card.

This is the backside of the finished card.  You can see the stair step cuts.  Over on the right side, you can see the placement of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stand Up "Snowflake" Helpers, and the Merry Christmas Stand Up Helper. I wanted to use the Snowflake Helpers to hold up the card.  I used the Merry Christmas Stand Up Helper so it could stand up (be dimensional) in front of the snowbank.

If you didn't want to use the Snowflake Stand Up Helpers, you could just use the Merry Christmas Stand Up Helper, and it would look like this picture.

Here is a side view of the card when placed in the Snowflake Stand Up Helpers.  This card will fold down flat for mailing.
