Celebrating over One Million Visits

Wow 1,004,589 visits to my blog since I started blogging in 2009.  I remember when I first started  my blog I was so excited when I got to 7 followers and today it is up to 1,120.  I want to thank all of you who are following and those of you who leave comments.  I appreciate all of you so much,  and I do love to hear from you.  I love sitting down everyday and coming up with something new to show you.   I designed a card today using products from Heartfelt Creations and as a Thank You, I will have a random drawing and give one of my Followers the Heartfelt Creations Poinsettia stamp set I used today. This is a beautiful poinsettia stamp set that will be a great addition to your Christmas stamp collection.   I will leave this open for one week and will draw a winner on Sunday, August 25th.  All you need to do is leave a comment on this post and tell me approximately how long you have been following my blog and what inspires you the most about my work.  I will send the winner of the drawing a Heartfelt Creations "Petite Poinsettia PreCut Set" (HCPC 3415).

About my card today.  I used design paper from the Heartfelt Creations "Christmas Card Collection" pad for the background.  The poinsettias in the Heartfelt Creations "Petite Poinsettia PreCut Set"  were stamped using "Scattered Straw" Distress Ink on Ivory card stock and die cut using the Spellbinders "Layered Poinsettia Shapeabilities" dies.  The flowers were colored using Gelatos and the leaves were colored using a combination of "Pine Needles and Forest Moss" Distress Ink.  The pretty white decorative pieces were die cut using the Heartfelt Creations "Ornamental Add On Dies".  There are 5 dies in this collection.

Shaping your die cut flowers and leaves can make a world of difference on your completed card.  I used the "Leaf Tool" from the Susan's Garden "Flower Tool Kit" to draw lines on the back side of each petal of the flower and on the back side of each leaf.  I then turned the flower/leaf over and drew lines following the stamped lines coming out from the center vein.  Then using the large stylus in this kit, I shaped the leaves on the back and pinched them down the center vein to give them a lot of dimension.

The layers are not glued together yet in this picture, but I wanted to show you the difference between flowers after they are shaped.  On the left the petals have not been shaped and on the right they are.  It seems to bring the flower to "life" doesn't it.

Here is another view to show you the dimension of the flowers.  The sentiment I used down on the lower right corner is from the Heartfelt Creations "Christmas Song PreCut Set".  To finish the card I added a line of pink rhinestones to the bottom of the card and three pink rhinestones in the center of each poinsettia.  On the inside of the card I used the Heartfelt Creations "Enjoy the Sweet Moments of the Season!" stamp from the "Sweet Memories PreCut Set".

I know you are going to love working with all the beautiful papers, stamps, and dies in the Heartfelt Creations "Christmas Card Collection" that came out this month.

Thanks again for all your visits to my blog. Don't forget to leave a comment if you would like a chance to win the Heartfelt Creations Petite Poinsettia stamp set.

These products are available from Joan's Gardens:

Heartfelt Creations "Christmas Card Collection"  paper pad (HCDP1236)
Heartfelt Creations" Ornamental Add On" dies (HCD 738)

I am quite a new follower, only since June. I think I found you on a hop and loved your projects and so decided to follow. I don't always have a chance to check in here, but I am so taken with your gorgeous flowers that I am always glad when I can stop in.

However......the one thing that really touched my heart about you was when you requested cards for your friend Helen. I, along with many others, sent her one and I hope that cheered her and her dear daughter (and other family members). I am always afraid to ask about older ones when they are so ill, but I did appreciate the one update I read.

Congrats on your million visits! Prayers for your daughter and her surgeries!

Hi Selma,

I am writing to you from Ontario, Canada and I love your blog! I get such a happy feeling when I turn on my computer knowing there is going to be something exciting on there from you.

I am so amazed at the work you put together, that’s a talent that I admire. I have forwarded your emails to a couple of friends who tell me they have signed up to receive them and wait with the same anticipation that I do.

Selma, I want to make sure to mention this today, so you know how much all of your hard work is appreciated. There are some, who for health reasons can’t do the projects you show but, you bring a brightness to their lives just by sending out your emails and they can read and picture what you are doing. Thank you for that. I wanted you to know that so, that while you are creating and thinking about what others may find appealing about your creations that they will duplicate them, there are also those who who wait for that “ray of sunshine” to brighten their day in a different way.

Thanks again Mary-Ellen

After they go to bed I make myself a hot chocolate sit outside and read your blog. It's my therapy! Then I go into my craft room and create create create. I'm so inspired by your gorgeous flowers. I have the urge to add flowers to my card even when it's a masculine card. Had to stop myself a few times! Lol

This card is drop dead gorgeous! I love making the poinsettias for my Christmas cards and you have made this one beautifully. Guess I have been reading your blog only a couple of months and stumbled upon you looking for Susan's flowers. I love making handmade flowers because if I am making a handmade whatever why would I want to add fake flowers. You do such a beautiful job with the flowers you make.

Selma Congrats on over a million posts and giving us a chance to win this great die set. I have been following you since 2010, I went back to my Selma file to check. You always teach me something new or remind me of a technique I had forgotten. Your tutorials are very helpful and your explanations on new products help me decide if I want to try them or not.

I don't usually make any commits but I do really appreciate all your posts. Will be saying prayers for you and your daughter and please keep us informed how she is doing.
