Susan's Garden Flowers

Many times we purchase products and use them for only one thing.  I want to show you some different ways to use your Susan's Garden flower dies.   None of the flowers I created here are traditional flowers but do resemble flowers in the Josephine Kimberling "Hope Chest" design paper. This is a 6x6 design paper pad.  The green card stock used is a piece of the Tim Holtz Distress Collection by Coredinations.  In the center I cut a smaller piece of this green card stock and used the Memory Box "Large Circle Burst" to create the round design.  It was backed with white card stock. The edges of this piece were distressed using the Zutter Distrezz-it All" In the center I stamped a sentiment from the JustRite "Winged Vintage Labels Two & Three stamp set.  On the corners of this piece I added Cheery Lynn Corners.  They were attached with E6000 Spray Adhesive.  You will love this new spray adhesive for attaching all your die cuts.  It is odorless and so easy to use.

The large pink flowers were created using the smallest petals in the Susan's Garden Peony dies.  The base of the petals were colored with Pan Pastels.   For the stamen I used the base (calyx) from the Susan's Garden "Mini Petals".   I used a technique i learned from Susan Tierney-Cockburn's "Paper Bouquet" book to shape this piece for a stamen.  If you don't have this book yet, I know you will find it very helpful in learning ways to create and shape your flowers.  I used the Susan's Garden Flower Tool Kit to shape all the flowers.  To create the stamen,   I cut between each point and down the center of each point on the calyx, using scissors, to make it "frilly". Two calyx were used for each center.  In the center were added a few yellow beads.  The maroon flowers were created with the Susan's Garden "Mini Daisy"  In the center I added dots using the Susan's Garden Black Viva paper pen.  The blue flowers were die cut using the Susan's Garden "Forsythia" dies.  I know forsythia are not blue but they match the flowers in the design paper.  In the center I used the Viva Yellow paper Pen to create the stamen.  The flowers were glued to covered floral wire.  On a couple of the leaves I made a ladybug using the Susan's Garden Ladybug Kit.

Can you see the little ladybug on the leaf?  They are so easy to create.  You just add a little dot of the red Viva Pearl Pen.  You need to add the tiny nozzle to the black Viva pearl Pen then just add a tiny dot of the black to one end of the red.  Next you add little tiny dots of black into the red dot and you have a ladybug.  Always test the pens on your craft sheet to make sure you will get just a small amount coming out before making dots for the ladybug.  Sometimes when you first use it, you can get a big "blob" but then you can gently press the tube and get very small dots.

I hope this will inspire you to be creative and come up with many different flowers using your Susan's Garden flower dies.

Have a great weekend.
