A Pretty Floral and Butterfly Box

Today I have created a box for you.  The flowers and Leaves are from the Heartfelt Creations "Botanical Floral" (HCPC3406) and "Leaf Medley" (HCPC 3405) stamp sets.  The butterfly used is a Cheery Lynn Designs "Exotic Butterfly Lg #2 (DL118).

The widest part across the butterfly wing measures 5.5" so is just perfect for using on a box or package.  To create this butterfly, I layered a piece of ivory cardstock and a piece of design paper then attached the butterfly die with removable tape and ran it through my die cutting machine. I used the Cheery Lynn stainless steel plate which helps cut out all the intricate design.  I removed all the cut-out pieces from the butterfly that was cut with the design paper, but did not remove those pieces from the cardstock.  I ran the cardstock butterfly through my Xyron machine and attached it to another piece of cardstock so those pieces would stay attached.  Scissors were used to cut around the shape of the butterfly.  Scattered Straw Distress Ink was sponged over the ivory butterfly so it would be a nice contrast to the top piece.  The two butterflies were attached just on the body.  I really like how you can see all the detail of the butterfly on the bottom piece.

The top of the box was covered with a piece of Webster's Pages design paper.  A Cheery Lynn "Italian Flourish" (DL103) was added to the center, then the butterfly was attached with dimensional tape.  Large black Dew Drops were added to the body.

The flowers were created using the new Heartfelt Creations Botanical Florals.  They were white embossed on ivory cardstock then cut out with matching Spellbinder dies "Rose Creations Shapeabilities".  They were sponged to match the flower colors in the design paper. Punched stamens were added to the center of the flowers. The leaves were stamped with green ink, on green cardstock, and cut out with the matching Spellbinder "Foliage Shapeabilities".  The flourish is the Cheery Lynn "Fanciful Flourish (B117).  Around the side of the box I added a punched border created with the Martha Stewart "Monarch Butterfly Trim" punch.  A black Dew Drop was added to each corner to complete the card.

As you know, all products I use can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

Today is my oldest granddaughter's birthday.  Happy Birthday Ali.  We can't believe she is now 18 and going off to college in a few weeks!    We will be having a special dinner and party with her later today.
