Joan's Weekly Challenge #5

It is time for a new challenge over at Joan's Gardens.  This week we are to:
  • Use Coral/pink and Green for the colors
  • A Birthday Sentiment
  • Vintage Paper
  • Handmade or Punch flower
This week I have made a very dimensional card.  I layered a piece of Webster's Pages design paper onto a black background.  The bird cage was cut out with the Tim Holtz "Caged Bird" Sizzix die, using black card stock.  I conditioned the cage using one of the tools from the "Flower Tool Kit" to give it a rounded shape.  I find myself using this tool kit for so many things.   The bird on the "Caged Bird" die was too large for what I wanted, so I cut a bird out from the Sizzlits "Birds &n Branches" die.  I love how he turned out.  I bet you can't guess what I used for him.  I had a "paint chip" that had a marble like finish on it and used it.  On one end of this paint chip was a solid blue so I cut the bird out again and used the solid color for the wing and tail.  The bird was attached to the bird cage with dimensional tape.

Using a lot of different small flower and leaf punches,  I created my flower arrangement.  Everything was attached with liquid glue.  The butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart butterfly punch.  It has the two sizes of butterflies on it.  I lightly sponged around the wings before adding them.

The birthday greeting is from the new JustRite "Birthday Sentiments" set.  The frame is from another new JustRite set "Decorative Border Variety" set.  I love this new Birthday Sentiment set because there are 9 beautiful sentiments.  The border set has 6 different borders in different sizes/shapes.

I hope you will join us this week in the challenge at Joan's Gardens.  Remember, you have a chance to win a nice prize for entering plus everyone who has won a challenge will be in a drawing at the end of the year for a $100 gift certificate from Joan's Gardens.  If you win more than one challenge, which is done by a random drawing, you will be entered again in the end of the year drawing.

All products in bold print can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

Hope you have a great weekend.
